Solengo: Popped and poured into red Solo cups; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2001 pours a garnet/purple with an opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of cassis, black berries, black cherry, dried purple flowers, capsicum, pencil shavings, some fine, cool and warm spices and dry, gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Squarely in the zone and while this a traditional Bordeaux-style blend, it somehow has a touch of Italian vibes. Drink now through 2036.

2001 vintage! Love the nose and mouthful. But the tannins are tight and grippy still so the finish isn’t at the level to push it to sublime. With food that softens the tannins it’s pushes the rating up.

A juicy and jammy wine, even at 17 years old. Definitely some heft to this wine made in the modern style.

Интенсивный аромат с выраженными первичными джемовыми ароматами чернослива, черной смородины и черешни, вторичными ароматами ванили, мускатного ореха и гвоздики, третичными ароматами подлеска, грибов и легкой ноты гудрона. Аромат сложный и хорошо сбалансированный, доставляет удовольствие. Сухое, тельное, с уровнем кислотности и таннинов выше среднего. Таннины округлые, но всё-ещё вяжущие. Долгое послевкусие.
