Any time I open a Riesling or GV from a reputable producer, I wonder why I don’t open them more often.
Great vintage, great Austrian producer.
I really enjoy the differences between Alsatian Rieslings, German Rieslings and Austrian Rieslings, the latter normally being a bit more textural/full-bodied (and higher in ABV at 13%, compared to the typical 8-10% range of the others). Pale yellow in the glass. White peach and a sweet lemon/lemongrass type of aromatic. Ripe stone fruits (more peach but also apricot) and minerals/slate alongside a spine of acidity that isn’t sharp, but balanced. Tasty. — 5 months ago

About 3 years since my last bottle. This is fantastic now. On the nose: ripe peach, soft yeast, dense honeysuckle, soft petrol..so floral and intense. Fantastic acidity, and amazing density, lemon oil, peach, honey, then dripping with mineral intensity...wet stone, mineral oil, and the fruit recedes, only to reappear as soft lemon on the finish. Absolutely lovely. — 5 years ago

None of the petrol on the nose. This one is more floral. Great acidity, very refreshing and enjoyable, with hints of apple/ pear. — 2 years ago

Nice snap and sizzle. Golden apple, pear, grapefruit pith, and crushed rocks. False effervescence that fades with air. Sustainable farming. Great QPR. — 3 months ago
