For years a personal favorite, this wine delivers both deliciousness and uniqueness. Red and blue fruits and a faint hint of baking spice keep inviting you back for another sip. This was the perfect foil for our pre-Christmas turkey dinner. And pinot meunier is one of those grapes not often featured alone as a single-varietal wine, especially unique since this one comes from white-heavy Germany! 100% Pinot Meunier. 12/23/21. — 4 years ago

Samling 88 is the most delicious of guilty pleasures. For me, it needs to be Spatlese to blossom but always a joy to have in the glass. Could drink every day and is a must in warm weather. The most delicious crossing ever — 8 years ago
Drank nicely even though young. Opened up well. Kurt wine — 3 years ago
Birthday Kurt wine. Very good would get again. Drank like a Pinot. Needed to open. A but fizzy at first and then developed. — 3 years ago
Shows more complexity and concentration than most Gruner Veltliners, with brighter acidities. Devoid of any hint of mechanical quality many Whites from Austria/Alto Adige suffer from. Might not have the reserve power to go long distance. — 5 years ago
medium golden yellow; muted, lemon zest, wet stone; saline, stone fruit; medium bodied, good acid backbone, 14.1% ABV; sourced from vineyard on bluff 5 miles from Pacific Ocean, whole cluster pressed and fermented in seasoned French oak, made by owner/winemaker Kurt Beitler, grandson of Charlie Wagner and nephew of Chuck Wagner co-founders of Caymus Vineyards; $45 — 6 years ago
German Pinot. Definitely not a Burg but spicy, clover and cardamom flavors were surprisingly good. Bottle also nicely developed with time — 8 years ago
Smell on the wine is grass. Taste is minerals and lemons with clean tart finish. Yet as it warms up the taste is bolder with apples and a bit more buttery finish of a Chardonnay. A very pleasant wine. — 8 years ago

Good! Dry but very pleasant. Would try again. Not blown away but could be a good one to have. Drank nicely the next day. Kurt wine. — 3 years ago

Hit of pear (Asian pear?) on the nose and a little just-mown lawn. Complex, almost busy, palate darting from one thing to the next: sweet, savory, tart and citric. Long sweet-sour finish. Fantastic!

2016 vintage. Very tropical. Brûleed pineapple, baked yellow apple, quince paste, banana, fried plantain, honeysuckle, prendre blossom, white lokum, yellow papaya. Good sweetness-acid balance, though a touch less acid than a lot of Riesling equivalents. — 7 years ago
Drinking with Kurt on the balcony on a humid August night. Yummy. High alc, nice minerals. Low tannins, nice acid that balances nicely agsinst the fruit. — 8 years ago
