It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark inky in color with a reddish rim.
Very pretty nose with black fruits, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, Indian spices, cola and light black tea.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, chocolates, toast, light vanilla, dark coffee, Indian spices, light cola licorice and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious 9 year old Merlot from Columbia Valley. Rich and extracted. Spicy and entertaining.
Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 3 hours of airtime.
Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Smooth and elegant. Fruit forward and tangy. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.
Good by itself as a sipping wine.
A blend of 75% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in (85% new) French Oak barrels.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

From a magnum. A fantastic wine. I have enjoyed Leonetti wines before, but this is my first experience with Figgins. Dense, complex and flavourful, with a long authoritative aftertaste, quite impressive. It’s almost ready, with many more years of life ahead of it. Better on 2nd and 3rd day when it completely opened up. Makes me want more.

Pours deep rich red. Initial mild dark fruit quickly changes to a quick burst of baking spices and cherries and then changes to a dryness of plums. Some soft tannins on the back. Love the changing layers. — 7 months ago
Gold color. Smells of apples. Tastes of butter, apples, and toasted breadcrumbs. — 9 months ago
Wow what a drop. If you have this drink it now. Insane and ready to go. — 5 years ago
Not too dry, and has a smooth finish. Great berry flavor. — 4 months ago
Cherries and chocolate . Bordeaux style, but California/Washington fruity! — 5 months ago
Beautiful and very well rounded. Less sweet than I usually like but still so tasty. Very full on the nose- hints of flush red fruit. Nice acidity and tannin balance. — 7 months ago
Very smooth and no hangover! — 7 months ago
I really enjoyed this wine, unfortunately I paid more than $10 because I bought it at a restaurant. Columbia Valley wines are def in my wheelhouse of taste and enjoyment for vino! 2019 — 2 years ago
Another outstanding vintage of this great wine. A bit less spicy than previous vintages. Dark Cherry and dried herbs on the nose. Black fruit, tobacco and a hint of chocolate on the pallet. Smooth tannins and just a tad “funky.” Long finish. Completely different than the 2013 Vintage but quite delicious. Revisited in December 2020. The “funky aspect” is not as prevalent. Smooth and outstanding. — 6 years ago
