Romanee Tuff by Tommy Ruff Syrah

Unfined, unfiltered 2014 vintage.
Chamaleontic, funky drop.
Nose dominated by black olives in brine, preserved plum, soy sauce, balsamic, black forest fruits, cinnamon, clove, bay leaf.
Elegant palate, tannin in place and refreshing acidity with a good length.
Barossa meets the Rhone.
Amusing, intriguing and delicious.

First Hardy Wallace wine. Wild, inviting nose. Berry, velvet. Niceness. Juicy and ripe. So drinkable. Awesome. Nice job, homie. — 11 years ago

Turn on, tune in, and cop out: one for the acid freaks. Peachy top notes with underlying green apple acidity. — 10 years ago

Samuel Adams (The Boston Beer Company)

Stony Brook Red American Wild Ale

Very nice aged sour from Sam Adams. Fruity start, lower carbonation than I expected, pretty smooth overall, though maybe missing something on the finish. — 10 years ago

I'm not sure how @Hardy Wallace gets so much flavor and complexity packed into something that is as light and graceful as this. Cranberry, rhubarb, rocks, earth and mushroom. Orange zest. Smoked meat. I need too figure out how to not drink these for a while, to see what they become. — 10 years ago

A couple hours in the decanter really help this unfurl. However, if you're waiting for fruit, it might be a long, long time. This is all about savory mineral texture. Excellent with some orange & fennel halibut. There must be some magic dust that @Hardy Wallace puts in the all the D&R bottles to make them taste better after a three hour decant. — 11 years ago

Matt (Rowdy) told me this wine is much better 2nd or 3rd day open. I agree.

How in the world do you still have some left in the bottle for a second or third day? That's an exercise in restraint I'm not sure I have with these wines!
