Impressive, lush, splendid Serbian Vranac Potrkanjski, aged 12 months in barriques. Best I ever had!
Brilliant garnet to purple color, carmine rim.
Expressive aromas of raspberry, cardamom, then vanilla, prunes, black currant, blackberry, wild vetch, cloves...
Very juicy berry-driven medium-bodied palate of perfect balance. Flavors of raspberry, black currant, cranberry, cherry, huckleberry, black gooseberry. Gentle oak touch.
Finishes persistently by juicy forest/garden berries with vanilla.

Sta reci...Vino koje me odusevilo. Vinarija Tikves-Alexandria(kupaza Merlo,Vranac,Caberne sauvignon),godina berbe 2012,14%alkohola. Treba ostaviti pola sata da se dekantira. Ima tezinu i oporost koju donosi Vranac ali ne "reze" toliko jer mu prefinjenost daje merlo i caberne. Podseca me na dzem od od sljive. — 10 years ago
Amazing wine, one of the silkiest I ever tasted! Thumbs up — 7 years ago
12 years old, one of the oldest wines I've tried. Colour is red-brownish, very light fruity smell, low acidity, mild dry wine, tastes like berry fruit with some vanilla flavour and traces of earth. Structured, complex, rich in secondary aromas, long subtle aftertaste. Balanced now, but I think it would lose on quality if saved for another few years. Definitely one of the most balanced, rounded wines I've tried. — 7 years ago

Notes producer: Recognizable yellow-greenish, with complex and seductive aroma of exotic fruits, apple and peach, woven with tones of acacia flower. Long-lasting and tenable taste, glycerol-mild, with fruity and spicy nuances. — 8 years ago

Plantaze Vranac Premijer - Top-quality red wine of dark red ruby colour. The selected coupage from the best reserves of Vranac from the wine cellar of "13. jul Plantaze". Elegantly balanced wine, rich in juicy and creamy flavour of red current and prunes, rounded with delicately sweet vanilla note. It develops additional complexity and elegance by aging. It is suggested to decant the wine half an hour before serving it. Made of Vranac, Montenegrin autochthonous grapevine variety. — 10 years ago
LONGING FOR THE SOUTH
Yesterday I drank this very nice Macedonian semi-dry T'ga za Jug red wine.
The wine is made of the native grape variety Vranec. It has an intense red color, and the distinctive taste of raisins and raspberries, which make it a nice sweet treat (hence: semi-dry).
The wine is named after the poem ‘Taga za Yug’ of the Bulgarian poet Konstantin Miladinov (1830–1862), one of the Miladinov brothers, who originate from Ottoman Macedonia. Both brothers are thought to have laid the foundation of the Macedonian literary tradition.
‘Taga za Yug’ means ‘longing for the South’ (el anhelo por el Sur): "If I had an eagle's wings, I would rise and fly on them to our shores, to our own parts [...] Here are frost and snow and ashes, blizzards and harsh winds abound [...] There the sunrise warms the soul".
When it is cold outside, and fiercely raining, I can assure you that it makes you long for the sun that warms the soul. Drinking the T'ga za Jug wine in good company and nice surroundings makes for a wonderful or sometimes even better alternative.
