Brut quaranttatre 06. Yellow color, complex aromas of savory rice, hint of honey, ripe melon, minerality, bit of creaminess and slightly reductive character, med body, high acid, tight bubbles, silky dense texture with dry, mineral finish. Long finish with savory rice note. Nice quality alta langa, great for apprentivo but lso good with vitello tonato or creamy risotto with tartufo, or sweet gorgonzola cheese. — 9 years ago
Intense aromas of fresh red cherry(slightly oxidized), white pepper spice, tabacco on the nose. All aromas are mingled very well. Med body , med p acid, med p intensity, med p tannin, soft and delicate texture, long finish with rose petal and elegant perfume, beautiful red cherry and strawberry fruits on the first palate followed by balanced acid and structure. Drink with tradition insalte(carne cruda, chicken salad, vitello tonatto) , angnelotti del plin, veal sweetbread, artichoke, pancetta +)level of peppery and tabacco note were toned down after 15 minutes opened & decanted. — 9 years ago
Just beautiful with the Ricotta, pine nuts and Central Park honey as well as the crudi: vitello tonnato, yellow tail with salsa verde and creme fraiche as well as scallops with jalapeño and soppressata. — 10 years ago
That moment when you know it works with everything local: carne cruda, vitello tonnato, tajarin al ragu and just about wowed the night. Just great right now — 10 years ago
Drinking Arneis and eating Vitello Tonnato in Turin. — 11 years ago
Carmel and cotton candy nose, red berries, red licorice taste, need 20-30 minutes to breathe. Went well with Vitello Milano and grilled broccolini with balsamic vinegar. — 7 years ago
Fruity, complex, smooth tannins, and a touch of acidity all suggest it will be drinking well for several years. Went very well with a BBQ variant of Vitello tonnato, based around rump steak. — 8 years ago
Riesling from Langa. Very fine. Had it with Paolo, Ferruccio and Cristiano. High school friends reunion after 28 years! Memorable. Had it with vitello tonnato e carne cruda. — 8 years ago

For me this is one of the best Nero d'Avolas. Unlike the many heavy oily oaky crowdpleasers, this one is a class of its own. It greeted me w dark berries and blackcurrents on the nose, followed by an elegant, lightly peppered presence on the palate, with subtle tannins. It's a feast to the eye, too, with a beautiful dark ruby color. Best of it - it pairs well with vitello tonnato, red meat, pasta, and can warm your heart all by itself on a dark winter evening. — 8 years ago
Sitting at an Osteria in Alba, Italy and going solo for dinner, this was my half bottle friend for the evening. Surprisingly tasty and fresh for what is an inexpensive Barolo 2011. Bright cherries, rhubarb, even strawberry on the palate with a touch of fennel and a bit of allspice. Finish is short, tannins light, acidity is good. Works great with Vitello Tonnato and other local Piemontesi dishes. — 9 years ago
Wine number 200! It's like a Mile Tyson punch to the face. Holllllly. A bit of acid, but not overbearing. Eating it with fettuccine alla cazzoni and vitello parmigiana. 12 hour work day? This is how you finish it. — 10 years ago
'01 couer is outstanding w the crudo vitello! Love the age and depth. — 10 years ago
