Huge spice, huge citrus, sweet grapefult, tangelo, ripe, perfumed, bigger, chewy, texturally stunning, so juicy, long. Pure. Zippy. Dry and energy, very pure, very intense. Young but so pure.
After 8 hours this is crazy. Unreal spice, super pure apricot, so airy and perfumed. Unreal clarity. Palate is so fine and elegant with tangy citrus fruit, clarity like nothing else and a long finish. Stunning. — 6 years ago
No tasting notes necessary. Almost unreal flavor, textures capable of restructuring your brain cells. This wine almost ruined me by raising the bar impossibly high for everything else that followed. Now regretting I sold my double magnum of '70 in 1997. "Dark chocolate-covered berries, fresh moss, leathery clay bound in a sensory rush that lingers all evening". This is what separates the classics from so many wines; One thinks of it and can taste it for the rest of your life. — 8 years ago
Thanksgiving treat... UNREAL — 9 years ago

Unreal.
First Jamet, and am definitely a fan. This and MS Ogier are probably my two favourite Cote Rotie producers right now. Need more!
Texture, perfume, and balance - those are the key here, despite it's youth. On the nose, dark fruits (blackberry etc), flowers, meat, smoke, and oaky spice. Touch of barnyard rusticity. Juicy on the palate, sour cherries, black pepper, bunchy goodness. Youthful tannins and persistent finish. So damn tasty. Gonna wait a while for this to open up!
Update: Looking more floral and spicy after some time. A touch of VA complexity building. Feel like it'll have a lot to offer as it ages. — 9 years ago

2000 vintage. This guy doesn't do wrong, what a beauty, explosive nose of lemon zest, bees wax, citrus honey, vibrant, unreal midpalate density ... Just marvelous. Thanks Goldy! — 12 years ago
Unreal. Perfect Pinot Noir. — 13 years ago
Huge ebullient nose of black and red cherries. Gorgeous spice, blackberry and licorice. Lovely Stoney minerality. So Volnay. Stunningly sweet fruit. Unreal purity and freshness and so so young. Sappy and dense but also light on its feet. Raspberry cake, raspberry coulis. Good extract, purity and freshness but as this is a barrel sample it’s maybe lost a little bit. Nose is showing huge minerality and earthiness. Palate is more engaging with air. It’s more precise and juicy. Very gamey. Nose is super sick now with air. Cherry liquor. Very fresh. Palate is elegant and fresh. This is a wine for laying down. So much potential. — 5 years ago
Classic Hühnerberg with slate, spice, gorgeous spice, citrus up the wazoo. Tangerine, tangelo, kumquat, swimming pool, urinal cake, hint of rubber, lavender, flowers so so sick and so so complex. Fruit cocktail. But also a hint of savory. Palate is elegant, concentrated, sleek, mineral, straight as an arrow with unreal complexity, finish seems peppery, juicy, mineral explosion and citrus pithy explosion as well and ripeness that hints at sweetness but is still bone dry. Watermelon fruit. Finished salty, mineral and apricot pith. So so complex. So so long. Stunning. As usual. — 6 years ago

What a wine and age has really improved this from super great to profound. Nose is gorgeous. Hint of butter, ripe pair, apple skins, lime blossom and intriguing and deep minerality. Palate is rich and ripe but laser focused with amazing texture that is like icing. It’s so fresh. The Tressallier really is an important factor in this wine as it makes it unique texturally and gives it unreal freshness. It’s so precise and refined with terrific juiciness and lovely taut structure and incredible length. The fruit is lime and apple skins all the way. The purity is incredible as is the length. Complex mid palate and even more complex finish with structure to burn and incredible inner mouth aromas. What a wine. — 7 years ago
La Rioja Alta wines are world class and put Tempranillo in a class all its own. Bellota and Gran Reserva make for an unreal dining experience during the holidays in San Francisco. — 9 years ago
Unreal youth. This wine I had to inspect closely to believe it real. It poured like it was 5 years old. Nose opened over 3 hours, and it was truly classic. Just absolutely perfumed with black fruit and pencil lead. Finish was just laser precise. This bottle can age for another 20+ years easily, with each point being different and enjoyable. Incredible bottle. — 9 years ago
Barrel tasting at Realm. Unreal. Sourcing the cab franc from To Kalon and Pritchard Hill makes for a hell of wine... — 10 years ago
Wow!! Chris Maybach and Thomas brown make some unreal wine! I would put Maybach up against the best from Napa. This is a wine that will blow you away. Huge fruit, but with extraordinary depth and balance and a finish that goes on and on! For a younger wine it is drinking so well! This is one to put on your bucket list! — 11 years ago

First vintage at d'Ampuis? Unreal beauty of a wine. — 12 years ago
OMFG. This nose is insane. Insane. Just the most pure black cherry ever. God’s Jelly Donut filling. Earthy, graphite? Tiny berry fruit intensity. Wild flower that is crazy. Smells like a scene in nature. Wow, the sweetness is BONKERS. Unreal purity. So balanced and pure. Texture is seamless. Huge amplitude and minerals. Tingly saline mineral note. Minerality and more mineral than the whites. The finish has tiny berry fruit intensity and echoes of flowers. What a finish. How is this better than the Cras?
Now the nose gets herbal. Complexity is off the charts. Raspberry spice cake on the nose now. This is some of the most beautiful fruit I’ve ever had in my life. But the finish is glorious minerals intermingled with fruit. — 5 years ago

Wow. Most expansive nose yet on the Weltner 18’s. Cucumber, vegetables, herbal, apricot, huge minerals, lanolin, bouillon, lime zest, soupy, unreal clarity, transporting, what density and chewiness, complex and so so mineral, again no fruit, spicey, it’s so dry and that is sucks all the saliva out of your mouth. Not punishing. So so long. It’s complex, concentrated and ultra dry. So long. — 6 years ago
Their second vintage. Big and young. Needs 5 hours to open up. I would recommend to cellar this for at least 5 - 10 more years. Mandarin zest - cedar - quite spicy - unreal complexity - Tulsi. It has a real bite despite just 12.5%. Without doubt one of the top 5 Pinot’s made in Germany that year another one made by the same guys is the Muschelkalk. If you pop a bottle open in the morning drink pm. — 8 years ago

Heavenly nose. Complex like you would not believe. Red confectionary fruit. Earthy, granite, cotton candy hint almost. This is stunning. Elegant and so finesse driven. Insane freshness. Red fruits and super mineral infused and so fucking clean. What acid. Really tannic. Needs 3-4 hours or 10-15 years. It's all there.
After 2-3 hours of air this has gotten extraordinarily unreal. Sweet fruit. Crunchy like a Roumier. Stunning clarity and precision. This is seeing. — 10 years ago
2011. A big wine. Perfect with Turkish food. Unreal. — 11 years ago
Wow. Unreal, what a treat. Looks like it'd be sweet, but super melo with almost a port hint to it. — 12 years ago
Unreal... This cats total production is 12 barrels . A Castilla y Leon appelation not Ribera Del Duero . Non issue it's totally delicious . Dark purple. Sweet tannins and a never ending train of dark ripe berry fruit, — 13 years ago

Wow. This nose slays. Gorgeous mid to late season cherries. Unreal minerals. Sappy, so clean and so pure. 19 has such dazzling purity. Wow what a palate. So precise and focused. Acid etched with a laser. Sumptuous yet so refined with just awesome cherry concentrated fruit and such fine tannins. Sweet but also excessively mineral and that finish. Wow, what a finish. Unreal purity and length. Blown away. Sadly all sold out at the estate. — 5 years ago
