Hmmmm...dried prunes, touch of currant and ripe red berries with a sublime undercurrent of grassy earth and forest-y shit. Ate some Hokkaido uni with it. Would eat a whole goddamn tray with a bottle....wait sounds like my weekend plan! — 5 years ago
High toned raspberry, black cherry and wild berry fruit, leather, sandalwood, dark rose, a little bit of a sanguine note, tarragon black tea, and dominant undercurrent of musk and earth framing it all. Seems to have that halfway chambolle to Gevrey thing. Not particularly long but lots of interest.
Good big body and acidity but still with very aggressive tannins. Really only came Into its own day 2. A broad shouldered wine, and a definite hold m — 7 years ago
Very ripe melon and lychee and oxidized apples with a stone/mineral undercurrent. — 7 years ago
It’s good it’s gold it’s somewhat aged but still sharp on top of honey and apple sauce but enough of an undercurrent of mineral to say “hey I’m Vouvray” so I like this one for the general scrumptious nature and...solid predictability. Goodness. It is good-ness. — 7 years ago
Imagine walking through a blueberry patch, munching on the freshly picked, sun-warmed blue beauties. This wine is blueberries for days, on the nose and on the palate with a mildly spicy undercurrent. Well rounded, soft tannins with a finish reminiscent of grape jelly. Paired with a strip loin and grilled veg. Enjoyed. — 7 years ago

Smell like rhubarb and strawberry. Bright fruitiness of Beaujolais but has a raw undercurrent. Medium acid, velvety tannins, sheer drinkability. — 8 years ago
It is a beast of a wine and yet it is approachable. Tannic but sweet tannins, full bodied, black fruits, mineral with a super long finish. The leather, gamey, Forrest floor undercurrent is starting to develop but will need another 5 years. A hedonistic bomb. Will give you pleasure for another 10 to 15 years easy. — 5 years ago
New World Chard with Old World / cool climate character. Pale yellow, crisp, notes of lemon curd, tropical fruit. Smooth, creamy texture with mineral undercurrent that carries through the finish. 2014, still fresh/youthful. 13.1% ABV. — 5 years ago
I’m not the best at predicting how wine ages, but this strikes me as a wine with a long thrilling life ahead of it. Aggressive tannins shape an undercurrent of dark plum and wild dark berry fruit. Heavy chalky notes. Tightly wound with great potential energy underneath dryingtannins that produce pith-like flavors (blood orange pith?). Not close to ready yet — 7 years ago
Red cherry framed by earth dried leaves cinnamon and clove, which dominate the nose. Undercurrent of cooled meet exposed into day 2. Much more black cherry on the platate Soft and lush Lush and sweet on the palate with good acidity and drying tannins. Feels pretty evolved already. No sure if it will improve. Very good but for an ‘09 1er (At the retail price point, although it was a steal at auction) I expected more

In this ripe vintage, Chartron crafted an elegant wine replete with lemon, mineral and smoke. Bracing acidity, vibrant apple, pear and citrus fruit and a wonderful undercurrent of Stony minerality. Seductively long finish — 7 years ago
Darrell Lea Raspberry Liquorice Twists on the nose, with hints of cherry cola and vanilla. Red fruit with a tarry undercurrent on the palate, plus bright acid and driving tannins. Enjoying this. — 7 years ago
A new first for me! Slovenian Sauvignon Blanc. Clean, fresh juicy, not veering too far into the super-pungent unripe gooseberry and blackcurrant territory. Pours a very pale green-tinged straw hue. Moderate concentration of aromatics of lime juice and zest, grapefruit pith and pulp, guava, wet stone, tarragon, and a lager-y leesy undercurrent. On the palate, the fruit character is riper and more guava-oriented, alongside more wet stone, tarragon + a bit of cilantro, and slightly lagery lees influence. Acid is medium (+) to high, dry, light body but with supple texture. Alcohol is medium (+ and ever so slightly hot on the palate but definitely at a tolerable level. Pretty solid stuff. — 8 years ago
I’ve been holding onto this bottle for a while now, and it was already over a decade old when I bought it. It’s drinking pretty well right now. It’s a little more delicate and subtle than Brunello in its youth. Not necessarily “old” smelling, but you can certainly tell this bottle is getting on in years. Leather and tobacco dominate the nose with a faint undercurrent of red fruit. Vibrant and acidic on the palate with finer tannins that became more prevalent over time. You get hit with a burst of fruit up front that finishes dry and peppery. Decanted about an hour before dinner, and drunk over the course of an hour or so, and it was fun to see how it evolved. — 5 years ago

A consistent favorite with initial bright raspberries then undercurrent of orange and spice — 6 years ago
A deep core of dark fruit takes center stage on this bottle - blueberry and blackberry and something like those but more wild and atypical, and fresh fruit but even some candies fruit notes. Herbaceous notes like bay leaf, oregano and tarragon and also exotic woods like sandalwood. Slight undercurrent of exotic spices m. Less Smokey and meaty notes than the last bottle I opened. This feels much more transparent, primary and...Burgundian?
Still with gray acidity and big drying tannins, but opening up. Excited to see it in a few years! — 7 years ago
A fantastic, serious wine and a fantastic deal. Really classic Morey st Denise. An enchanting and intoxicating nose with dark fruit, sweet earth, meaty notes, bay leaf and thyme; a hint of leather and game, maybe eucalyptus or amaro and an ethereal undercurrent of natural woods, woodsy without oaky or vanilla notes. Powerful, Round, rich, silky and savory on the palate. Not at all opulent but just in a great window with some resolves tannins despite still having a strong tannic spine. Baking spices followed by Sweet earth and sandalwood dominate a long finish. With air, also get a long dark cherry note, maybe some chocolate covered cherry. Deeper and more exotic savory notes. SIlky, plush and an earthier expression of a chambolle. Serious, and maybe even sexy ;-) — 7 years ago
Served at the proper temperature and allowed to breathe, this wine delivered rich plum and black berry fruit flavors with an undercurrent of earthiness. Wonderful expression of the Sangiovese grape. — 7 years ago
A fine vintage for Judge I reckon. This was singing with layers of complexity. Unctuous and saturated. Burnt rubber and popcorn. Rich lemon and pear. Strong undercurrent of mineral and flint. This is a big dollop of Chardonnay but never overdone. With grilled snapper, it was without equal. — 8 years ago

The nose is beautiful on this wine - perfumed blackberry, strawberry and plum. It has some noticeable sweet oak spice with a good whiff of vanilla. The palate brings flavors of red fruit with a slightly tart edge to it and a very good acidity that is lip-smacking. There is a savory undercurrent that I find irresistible. The finish lingers quite a while. — 5 years ago
