Gift from uncle Mike. Full-bodied. Very well-balanced. Raisins. Long finish. Opened up after decanting more than an hour but started good as well. Drink with wife for trim the tree party — 7 years ago
.......unlike some so called "Amarone" producers, who trim the canopy back to sun blister the grapes in order expedite the sugar concentration, and also trellis lower to the ground to obtain excess moisture and rapid raisination, the Biscardo family's Ripasso Superiore is a TRUE " baby Amarone". In fact.....for a fraction of the price, it is better than many of those AmaPHONY producers Amarone! — 8 years ago
Had while at Sept,2015 Toronto sales mtg with Rene Garneau. Absolutely delicious!! — 9 years ago
This one is fun as a low-tannin, fruit-flavored Rhone blend. Here are some reviews:
Winemaker's Notes:
Angove Famliy Crest 2013 Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre is bright ruby red with rich aromas of candied cherry, anise and spice with a hint of vanilla. Enticing flavors of cherry, toffee and plum follows on the palate with a soft, full and rounded finish. Drink now until 2020.
Critical Acclaim:
Good hue; luscious and fruit-sweet (not sugar-sweet); an attractive wine that will be most enjoyable with pasta dishes to trim that sweetness back a bit.

Pale purple. A tight nose and trim body. An intriguing sour, mineral taste with soft, lingering tannins. Not an everyday wine that you have had a dozen times. An homage to "our country," the new appellation Costieres de Nimes, which represents one of the oldest wine growing regions in Europe. Adjacent to Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a much more prestigious appellation. Old World style, not fruit forward. Artfully composed from a blend of five Rhone valley wines, 50% Grenache Noir, with a bracing bite of 15% alcohol. Tres bien. — 7 years ago
Trim, a bit tight. Firm acids, fresh dark fruit and this interesting aromatic herb aroma that puts me in mind of mountains. Plenty of sap and concentration on a light frame. Lovely stuff, and I'd love to see it again in ten years — 8 years ago
Dardanelos - 100% tempranillo from Spain-DOC Ribera del Duero. It is aged for 4 months in French oak barrels. Is a nice purple with a oink trim. In the nose is fresh and fruity woth hint of banana and cherries, sweet violets and floral notes. In the palate is very nice, rounded and balanced. You can hint herbs and fresh fruits. Easy drink wine and great for the value! — 9 years ago
Trim compared to the 07 Reserve. Still soft with a nice core of fruit. — 6 years ago
This is why Napa Cabernet brings the big bucks. Inky in the glass with indigo trim, the wine smells of a thousand different feelings at once. Cassis, blackberry, pencil shavings, cedar, vanilla. The palate is just as complex, just as delightful. Very dark fruit goes hand-in-hand with minerals and oak spice. The tannic structure is firm enough to make a vegetarian want a steak. Quite a trick, because, as I understand it, it’s bacon they crave. — 7 years ago
Intense purple color. Nice earthiness on the nose. Acid for sure. Fit and trim. A summer wine I think — 8 years ago
Fave grenache, bar none. Lean, trim. — 9 years ago
I had a hate-hate relationship with Grenache for a long time (alcohol, lack of acid, lots of high-extraction style winemaking), but this is one of the wines that turned me around on the variety when @Caleb Ganzer served me a bottle a few years ago. Red fruited, meaty, peppery, with plenty of red flower perfume. This is clean, low-intervention winemaking, with only a little appealing pinch of VA. There's a slightly chubby texture, but trim acid keeps the wine moving forward. Somehow this wine would appeal to the Burgundy drinker, as well as the California Pinot drinker, and you know, people who like Grenache. A screaming deal at $25-ish. — 9 years ago
