Such a pretty bottle and name. Tastes more like a Sauvignon blanc than a Chardonnay. Tart and light. Grapefruit. Vanilla finish. — 2 years ago
Rich and layered , with a good finish — 3 years ago
Matthiasson’s version of a balanced and true-to-place Riesling. These grapes are of the eldest vines grown at the Trefethen property. 105 cases produced. 12.1% EtOH.
A very pale yellow, slow forming legs, dry and acidic wine with notes of lemon zest, honeysuckle, jasmine, chalk, green apple, beeswax. — 4 years ago
Nice. Light, fruit forward. — 4 years ago
Brioche, cream, honey cake, caramel, vanilla, acidity, life, finesse, elegance ... what a wine — 5 years ago
Good but lower cost performance — 5 years ago
Well balanced cab. No parts too much or little. Firm tannins, some fruit — 8 months ago
Wow! First to review. Notice the bottle of Halo by trefethen to the right? Opened this after sharing that other bottle. Bought this before think Kirkland wines are usually interesting and delicious and limited. Especially the reds. This $10 Kirkland napa blend is a steal. I bet in a blind taste people wouldn’t guess it was $10. I wish I bought more. I predict next time I go to Costco which I is next week it will not be available. — 2 years ago
They greet you with their Chardonnay when you visit. They buy grapes from Trefethen to make their Chardonnay.
My experience with this is when you are mosttly a red wine producer, you need a white to start people & for Winery dinners with non meat dishes. It is not the primary focus of what they do. It’s more of an after thought and what you get is something very serviceable. That is the case here.
Their Chardonnay is very classic Sonoma...good but, nothing outstanding. Green apple, lemon, lime, kiwi, some butter & cream, mid oaked & backboned.with decent acidity and nicely polished. — 4 years ago
Lovely Merlot. Will gladly drink again. — 4 years ago
A good white blend - citrus overtones and a bit of oak. April 2019. — 5 years ago
A big oil’ Napa Cab. My future father in law bought this bottle when Emma and I got engaged at Trefethen in 2017.
Perfectly balanced, which is necessary because the amount of new French oak leaves a serious impression. This was a great wine with Swedish meatballs and gravy. Definitely enjoy with a rich meal. — 5 years ago
Paul really liked this one! — 2 years ago
Terrific and Smitty start. Savory long finish. — 3 years ago
I shall be the first to rate the 2016 vintage.. I find this Chardonnay to be almost perfect. I am usually not a fan of chards but Trefethen has the talent to make it palatable for every drinker. It has a marshmallow touch to it, light golden color, apricot on the nose and slightly lemony on the back of the tongue and tingly at the very top. — 4 years ago
