Blackberry, plum, and a little raspberry, with a little tobacco and pork fat. Not a lot of acidity or tannins. I don’t think this is a super complex wine, but it has a lot of the right elements for a good value in a Cabernet that’s approachable. — 6 years ago

Ripe pears, apricots and the scent of roasted nut. Evocative of autumn, kicking crisp orange leaves and wearing a slightly scratchy sweater. I'm an oak fan so this is nice but may be heavy. Not so much a summer or spring sipper. Roast chicken or robust cheese with crusty bread. — 9 years ago

1990 Cheval Blanc 1st Grand Cru Bordeaux. Drank w K at Bouchon. Awesome. We love this wine. Super vegetal on the nose, big white onion and green onion. Secondary notes of pencil shavings, lead, tar, and finally jam. Delicious to drink, smooth, long finish. Really had fun picking this wine apart. — 10 years ago

Magnum 1988 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Nebbiolo. Drank at Bouchon Yountville w K, C, Butch, et al. Awesome. Pretty acidic wine which took a while to open up, but was great once we got the food going. K loves this wine as did the table. — 10 years ago
