Magnum 1988 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Nebbiolo. Drank at Bouchon Yountville w K, C, Butch, et al. Awesome. Pretty acidic wine which took a while to open up, but was great once we got the food going. K loves this wine as did the table. — 11 years ago

Ripe pears, apricots and the scent of roasted nut. Evocative of autumn, kicking crisp orange leaves and wearing a slightly scratchy sweater. I'm an oak fan so this is nice but may be heavy. Not so much a summer or spring sipper. Roast chicken or robust cheese with crusty bread. — 9 years ago

Blackberry, plum, and a little raspberry, with a little tobacco and pork fat. Not a lot of acidity or tannins. I don’t think this is a super complex wine, but it has a lot of the right elements for a good value in a Cabernet that’s approachable. — 7 years ago
