Tin Box Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Elegant as Bevan goes. Not quite Parker 100 but quite good, esp for 2011. I’ve raised the rating twice. — 4 years ago

Tin Cup

American Whiskey

My husband is a scotch drinker, but, this was given to him as a Christmas present last year.
He landed up opening it up last week to try, and really liked it. He’s had a glass every night so far.
Impressed.

Estate Pinot Noir 2015

Best $18 bottle Pinot that I’ve had in quite some time. Thank you to the great people at the California Wine Country podcast and Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa for turning me onto this wine... — 5 years ago

Beautiful, dark red, perfume fruits. Black currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, boysenberries, lots of blue fruits, expresso, anise, leather, some graphite, sweet dark moist soils, medium intensity volcanic minerals, limestone with blue and dark red floral bouquet.

The body is full. The tannins are round and nicely soften. The structure, length, tension and balance have hit harmony with plenty of life left ahead. Dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, boysenberries, loads of blue fruits, expresso roast, anise, dark chocolate, a little caramel, leather, some graphite, leather, dry tobacco, touch of dry herbs, sweet dark moist soils, medium intensity volcanic minerals, limestone and blue and dark red floral bouquet. The acidity is round and beautiful. The finish is long, very well balanced, elegant, polished and lasts minutes.

Photos of; The barn used for winemaking and to host tastings. The first harvested Cabernet grapes of the season, an old school basket press that decorates their grounds, Estate vines and a giant fan to dry the vines if needed amongst the hilltop mountains that surround the Estate.

Château Malescot St. Exupéry

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Color a is murky red brown. Nose—a sweet red cherry plum and forest floor barn yard funk with green veggie. A slight menthol lingering. Taste— Sweet strawberry tea flavors hit the pallet. A slight smoky and tobacco medium finish with touches of currant, tea and spices hanging around making the wine soft and pleasant and wanting more. Tannins have sweeten but definitely still there! — 4 years ago

Marcassin

Alexander Mountain Upper Barn Chardonnay 1999

Great weight and texture, lush without being overbearing, lemon curd fruit with a touch of vanilla, a little flabby but drinking very well. I’m not a huge fan of the producer but this one was very appealing. — 5 years ago

Another 4th Friday for the books! What a variety this month!

At 24yrs old, it’s incredible how this drinks. Obviously past its prime, but by no means a lost bottle. Had never heard of this vineyard. Butterscotch, salted popcorn kernels, and cornbread note too. Still retaining some nice acidity!

The Lost Abbey Red Barn Ale

The menu listed Inferno but Red Barn was all they had. A good saison - nice crispness with a hint of ginger and white flowers - but WAY too cold. Will probably improve as it warms up...but I'm thirsty. — 7 years ago

It's okay. I'm guessing the Inferno would have been better!

Napa Valley Red Blend 2009

Double decant (lots of fine sediment). A beguiling Deep Purple [Machine Head rules]. On the nose: black fruit, earthy, floral some slight barn yard funk which I luv. Taste: silky, nice balance with black cherry, pencil lead, spice and cedar with a long finish...drink em now or over the next 8 years!! — 5 years ago

Translucent light ruby color with earthy red fruit and savory spice aromas. On the palate it's fresh, focused and harmonious with a silky texture and cherry, dried strawberry, pomegranate, cola and spice flavors. Long delicious savory finish. — 7 years ago
