An iconic Stags Leaps wine... And now there is a map to know where the Joseph Phelps Insignia vineyards are. — 9 years ago
Outstanding! There is the perfect moment for a bottle to be opened and tonight was it. It was the wine equivalent of a album that you can listen to from start to finish. — 10 years ago
One of the best CDP's out there — 11 years ago
Lower neck/high shoulder fill. Cork intact but crumbled as it was pulled out. The appearance was excellent – fresh, dark, deep, no sign of letting go at all. On the bouquet, there was a strong Cabernet perfume. Cassis, black fruits. The tannic structure was still very healthy. No trace of oxidation whatsoever. This Montrose lived up to its name as a long distance runner! — 9 years ago
So much fresh fruit and grippy tannins there, after 18 years. Youthful and I would give it more time in the bottle, there is enough of everything to allow it even more complexity. — 10 years ago
Classy, elegant, terroir driven claret. We paired this with our first Donabe, and it worked... But I can't help thinking that it would have been better with a grilled ribeye. This is still young but the finish is already there- super long and mineral! — 10 years ago

1990: Corked, unfortunately. My mom had the best line, "It sure tastes better than it smells!" I recall what it was like on release, hard candy sweetness with a surprisingly light framework, particularly compared to both the '88 & '89 on release, and the crazy depth of the'90 Ch. Filholt Creme de tete, which was massively concentrated. This bottle still had oomph, yet wasn't all there. — 11 years ago
Kept a library of bottles from various special evenings: this is one of them - it was a gift from the winery after a visit there in the early 1990s — 13 years ago
There are no good old wines only good old bottles. Good Pauillac cedar, typicity, long finish and lots of evolution and the Glass. Great freshness for wine of this age — 9 years ago
Deep dark black 🍒 in color with no bricking. Potent nose dark fruit, earth, leather and mushroom. Dense fruit flavors with hint of olive. Smooth tannins. Elegant, persistence on the finish. Very fresh and vibrant. In a great drinking window. Makes the price of perfect storage worthwhile. @Andrew Schirmer there is more for you! — 9 years ago
Enjoyed 83 LLC a lot - perfectly mature, great aromatics and fruit was there to stand up to structure. — 10 years ago
Still got it. A fantastic old Bordeaux with a classic nose and great flavor profile. A bit short on the finish. Tannins even still there for a few more years of life left. A great bottle. — 11 years ago
A bit of oxidation, but otherwise, just fine. Fruit still there. 1970, 45 year old wine for our 45th Anniversary. — 11 years ago
Strong, black cherry flavor in there, nice strawberry smell. 2010 vintage — 11 years ago

Mid-shoulder fill. There was a slight indication of oxidation on the nose with some interesting cheesy smell. However on the palate this wine was so complex expressing all sorts of things ranging from sour cherry, mushroom, earthiness, strawberry (!), fresh vegetation or herbaceous note (in a good way). — 9 years ago
