Creamy, cherry, medium+ body, very very drinkable I.e. noted to self this is a good ‘sessions’ wine. This was wine I bought on my 1st trip to Pittsburgh re living there — 7 years ago
I have been a Lewis fan for years. Glad to finally see them get the accolades they deserve, being listed as Wine Spectators top rated Wine of the Year 2017. Unassuming and dedicated to making the best wine every year, the have quietly been making it to the top of a lot of other people's list. This is the Reserve, so it is a great plus to their regular Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep and dark, plums and licorice, and a lingering finish. The nose is amazing. Decanted for 2 hours, it was perfect with the bone in filet. — 8 years ago
Great French wine in the people's republic of Berkeley! 🇫🇷🍷👊 — 8 years ago
Spoils of war. Drinks like OPP... Other People's Puligny's! — 9 years ago
the wine drinks to me like it can age for another five years. 2009 vintage just by personal tasting theory was an excellent year for coach insignia. Could be little a hot for other people's taste but i think they did a good job of balancing it. Nice ripe dark plum and dark cherry, with a nice combination of vanilla on the nose and palate. Super big body with pronounced tannins. I taste the wine a second day it's drinking even better. The ripe fruits you got from the first day of drinking are slowly turning into savory herbaceous notes. Lovely example of a coach felps insignia Napa wine — 9 years ago
I like to blow people's minds with this wine when they don't know New Zealand Pinot, or claim they don't really like it. Just an outstanding example that can't be denied. This is the wine that made my mom (a Pinot connoisseur) a true believer. The Peking duck pairing didn't hurt! Well done and here's to many more 🍷🍷 — 9 years ago
@Tanuki. Tastes of two sweet love making sessions on a Friday afternoon. Blair loves, a lot, and then more. Spicy miso pretty spicy. Moving to 884 for 6!weeks. Go Bucks O-H ! — 7 years ago
A definite 94 tonight, with some stiff competition but still held itself well and was several people's WOTN. This wine is a darker expression of cab at this point. Lots of blackberry cassis, blueberry, and truffle in the entry and middle. The wine seemed to almost get a little more youthful in the middle and finish, and I was very glad that it was enjoyed tonight along with a 99 Rudd, a 98 Phelps Bacchus, and a 95 Togni. This wine will continue to benefit from some additional time in the bottle. Very happy that I opened this one tonight for the group. Compared to the Levante, this Ponente seemed to express itself much earlier without as much of a decant. — 7 years ago
Delicious - great citrus notes. Excellent for what it is - drinks better than a lot of people's village wine — 9 years ago
Easy drinking goodness. Relatively light, but very enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Couple of people's last shift at Toasted, so there is a certain festive atmosphere and quite a few bottles have already been drunk, so I was in a positive mood when this came out; but even stone-cold Catholic-mass sober I'd still say you'd enjoy this one; sort of sherbert and gooseberries. Second winery on day two in Sonoma was Hanzell Vineyards with Whitney. Last wine was the Hanzell Pinot Noir, which is their flagship Pinot Noir bottling. All the fruit comes from three of their estate vineyards with an average age of 26 years; de Brye, Sessions and Ambassador's 1953 vineyards. This bottling is fermented for a five-day cold soak and 10% is whole cluster. Aged for 18 months in 63% new French oak barrels (60 gallon).
Medium garnet red with light ruby edges. Love the nose, like a true high-end Burgundian Pinot Noir. Layered with cedar, spices, sandalwood, raspberries, tobacco, purple flowers, white pepper and a touch of dark citrus. Medium plus acidity (7/10) and medium plus bodied. Elegant yet balanced with cherries, red berries, spices, Provencal herbs and forest floor. Long and never-ending finish. Drink till 2035.

Fruit baked on clay bricks. Dusty yet fruity. Not my favorite, but still good. I think Kieu Hoang makes better bottles honestly. — 7 years ago
