Upon recommendation from the wine ship guy, i opened this 2-3 hours before tasting, which was good, except for tge fact that it got too warm. I popped it back in the fridge for 20 minutes and then it was perfect. Very fruit forward and fresh with a nice structure despite its youth (2017 tasted in August 2019). The color appears on the lighter side of what I would expect from a Rhone syrah. Ruby, quite transparent but no bricking yet. The wine airs well with a lot of flowery characters - rose petal, violet, and a slight hint of vine stem. Structurally in tact at 4 years of age. Medium plus acidity and tannin. Elegant with, again, floral showing on the palate backed by red cherry, some earthy, and mushroomy notes as well as slight meatiness. Good quaffable Saint Joseph that would do probably better with 4-5 years more of cellaring time. 89+ — 9 years ago

Nice wine. Enjoyed the lighter body and milder red fruit of this wine. A whiff of leather and tobacco on nose and some earth on the palate. Wouldn't really say any floral quality to this Pinot. If you anthropomorphize this wine, I can see describing her as "elegant" and "soft" and "smooth". But did not achieve "sexy" or "seductive" status for me. Second date? Sure. Why not? — 11 years ago

Very nice and interesting Syrah from the Rhone. Aromatically not that intense, but this has great freshness and acidity, with medium tannins. More purity of restrained fruit than earth or funk. Quite nice with a ribeye at Prairie Whale in the Berkshires. — 9 years ago
