It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Dry on the palate and fruit forward.
Full bodied with medium acidity.
Showing plums, cherries, light oak, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, earth, light vanilla and chocolates.
Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Single Vineyard Merlot from Washington State. Soft and elegant with nice complexity.
Another delicious wine by Charles Smith. Peaking now. Tangy and interesting.
Robert Parker 94 points.
Better right out of the bottle. Lost some oomph after decanting it for 90 minutes.
Good by itself or with food.
100% Merlot grapes were aged for 21 months in (50% new) French Oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

What can I say... Washington Washington Washington.... superb — 5 years ago
2019 vintage at Signature restaurant; quintessential Pinot with a bit of barn p-funk, fruit forward, very smooth and medium body. Excellent finish and paired nicely with truffle risotto — 2 years ago
Night two at Bern’s. A backup bottle to replace the 1907 LLC that had a flaw. Went with this choice for its high shoulder fill and great color. Light tawny reddish color. Clear rims with a deep color center in the glass. Fruit forward nose with notes of black and red fruit, some earth and some wood. With air it opened like the others. Decent structure. Good balance. Nice, solid wine for its age but nothing dramatic or exciting. — 2 years ago
Thanks Goaley, great as always... Washington Merlots are very good — 4 years ago

Pure sweet and tart cherry fruit and that dusty bloody earth. Pretty, classic Chianti from organic fruit. Another great $20 bottle from @Vineyard Gate Selections, LLC — 6 years ago
FLN — The sexiest/prettiest of the three 1986s we had, showing violets and complex, layered fruit framed ever so slightly in some softening tannins, way closer to being ready than the LLC, group favorite but I’m giving a little more to the LLC to its immense additional potential. — 2 years ago

Really enjoyed, 1L. Domestique wine club Sept 2020. — 5 years ago

Cool wine. Really interesting beeswax element on the finish that you usually see in skin contact whites. Guessing.m it relates to the fermentation or aging vessel. — 5 years ago
Though the bell pepper note was quite prominent, the nose was nevertheless deep and inviting with cassis, blackcurrant, licorice, raspberry, touch of vanilla, and hint of smoked meat, thyme, and anise. Fresh and round acidity sporting a feminine medium to full body with polished tannins. Young and just starting to develop.
Clos du Marquis has its own vineyard and therefore is not considered a 2nd wine to LLC. As a matter of fact, it has its own 2nd wine. Paid a bit less than $50. A steal. — 6 years ago

Medium straw color; smells like yellow apple and maybe jasmine on the nose; medium acidity; tastes like star fruit, saline, and a hint of butter with a long finish. I'm really enjoying the minerality. — 2 years ago
