Patience is rewarded. This beast has mellowed into a dark fruit, espresso and earthy juice that’s a pleasure to drink. Just enough acidity. Tannins have grip and elevate this baby into something big and worth drinking. Those Beaucastel descendants know what they’re doing! — 7 years ago
Love Beaucastel and its sister US winery, Tablas Creek. Lovely wine. Great Red Rhone. — 9 years ago
One of the best Syrahs I ever had. From Paso, and competing right up there with the Justins and Daous of the region. Very silky and beautifully balanced. Just a really big wine. — 10 years ago

I just plain liked it. I love Tablas Creek. — 11 years ago
4 stars; beautiful creamy palate Butterscotch and flowers on nose — 12 years ago
Day 1: Interesting experiment. I can see why it’s used for blending. Very neutral and a little lemony.
Day 2: Really grew on me. Acidity dropped and allowed fruit to come in. Still like lemon but more like lemon custard. I suggest decanting for a bit — 6 years ago
Finally. This wine takes much longer to show its core beauty than one might expect. Now layered and full of honeyed quince and green olive and hay and herbs. The baby fat is gone, and while this still holds weight on the palate, it's more muscled and taut, less big and sloppy. Very true to it's Rhône heritage. — 8 years ago
Love this head-pruned goodness! Dark garnet in color it shows off red and black fruit with some nice meatiness from the Syrah. A plush, full bodied wine that nicely balances its fruit and savory flavors with rich tannins. — 10 years ago

Good nose, medium-body, strawberry, nice finish.

The nose isn't exciting, a bit harsh. The flavor behind very flat and flourishes into a robust complex, full of berries and a slight earthy finish. — 10 years ago
Really smooth and buttery like a Chardonnay — 10 years ago
Pale gold color with appealing mango, pineapple, honey and hints of ginger, sweet spice and citrus aromas. On the palate it's medium bodied, and off-dry with a supple, smooth texture and very good acidity. The flavors follow the aromas with spiced sweet lemon joining the party. Clean lingering finish — 11 years ago

Bourboulenc is a traditional but now fairly obscure varietal originally from southern France. From one of my favorite OG producers in Paso. — 5 years ago
