Stupid good. Earthy, funky, and bright. Couldn’t stop sniffing it. — 7 years ago
For me and considering the price difference, this is close to Krug Rosé. It's doesn't bring the full joy and palate dance Krug gives. However, for a $160- $200 less, it's in the ballpark. The fruits shine; black cherries, cherries, strawberries, watermelon, tangerine, citrus blossoms & English biscuits. The chalkiness & minerality has precision and cuts sharply across the tongue. The acidity is perfectly crisp and the rich finish simply doesn't stop. This is certainly a benchmark of very good Rosé champagne. — 8 years ago
Fantastic. Delicious berry flavor with an amazing finish. This will be our next stop in California. — 10 years ago
Another fabulous pick from dear friend and personal collection curator- C. Lawrence- this is such an interesting barb- not just big, but layered - & so swishable- could not stop smelling it for long !!! but when I did it was complex cola floral - stone fruits and such a captivating finish! was lovely with rangoons, heavy cheeses and blackberries, believe it or not! — 10 years ago
A nose that could stop an army. So young. — 10 years ago
I drink mostly grower fizz but I'll take this anytime. Pale color with apple nose. Not much yeast or toast. Flavor of apple, butter and some other white fruit. Very appealing! Provokes thoughtful discussion if you can get Judy and Rhonda to stop slurping it long enough. — 11 years ago
This followed a 2015 Maybach and everyone can’t stop talking about it @Mike Smith what an accomplishment! — 7 years ago

I cracked this bottle of 2011 open this evening expecting a bottle I'd enjoy and relax with (after all, I always enjoy Bordeaux).. however, I didn't expect to fall in love again. Alas, that is what has happened. This bottle has made me "return to my first love." Bordeaux has always held a special place in my heart, but it's been a while since a bottle made me stop and just breathe it in quite like I did this evening. Whatever it is that this bottle has, I love it.
After a 2-hour decant, the nose is intoxicating with a lovely string of cedarwood and pencil shavings, dark chocolate and black currant. The palate has perfect weight and balance - showing gorgeous purity of fruit and seamless texture.
I keep coming back to the haunting nose.. I think Oz Clarke sums it up best in his writing of St. Julien - "that extra brilliance of cigar box and cedarwood scent, austere blackcurrant and a gentle, surprisingly soft texture in maturity, like the fond touch of a favorite grandparent - that's the genius of St. Julien." You can definitely hold this another 5-10 in you wish, but if I had any more, they wouldn't last til the end of the month, it's that good. Go get yourself some. — 8 years ago
Part of what makes great wine a wonderful thing to be addicted to is being able to share it with my best and truest friends. So..
a more Bordeaux style Cali Cab that's very in the great mid range style with the secondary tar and tobacco notes and lack of fruit forward that make a guy wanna say HOT DAWG and stop being pretentious about anything that doesn't make life great. Figger it it Y'all. — 9 years ago
Lovely wine! I cannot stop drinking this wine — 9 years ago
😳I'm absolutely shocked at how good this is. Reminds of me of his Renaissance blend minus all tannin and mineral completely, only the most tantalizing and fun parts separated for this cuvee. Holy god I hope you get to have some of this at some point. This is really sets the bar for wines around $30. I'll stop there. — 10 years ago
Tobacco, leather and tobacco leather. Well structured with tannins that do not stop. Excellent. — 10 years ago
First stop on our MD trip this year was to Aperture Cellars in downtown Healdsburg.
First of the single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings we tasted at Aperture Cellars with Lauren.
Deep ruby red. Layered nose with ripe berries, dark cocoa, tobacco leaves, leather and cinnamon with an earthy undertone. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Lots of fall spices on the palate with some dark cocoa and blackberries. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2032.
Tasted at the tasting room and retails for $95.00.
@Delectable Wine this is the Del Rio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. — 7 years ago
This Rioja reminds me of how I'm nothing like most other alcoholics...most of them are always trying to stop drinking. — 8 years ago
This was just excellent paired with smoked duck. The richness of the flavour yet it goes down smoothly. You cant stop once you start on it — 8 years ago
Big cherries. Lots of tannin. Keeps coming. Bold bold bold. huge alcohol content. This wine doesn't stop — 9 years ago
There are these moments in recorded music where something gets reissued today from like the 70s or 80s on a crisp new vinyl press. Nobody's seen the original because it's so damn rare. And the recording just fucking bumps so hard and the soul of the music is so deep, from the ages when synths and sample banks were too far off to care about. Ya, this. This is the one. Don't be afraid to drink this today. You will be rewarded with soul. It will be difficult to return to trap hats and people with no talent feeding you meaningless poetic dribble. And my apologies to Amass, we put you up against this. Unfortunately this wine won in the end by a long shot and the 30 chefs in your kitchen were all slain by 3 generations of farmers working side by side. — 9 years ago
This is the best Sauternes I've tasted. Complex, self-assured, and detailed nose of saffron (botrytis), orange peel, marzipan, candied grapefruit (thiols), slight yeasty baguette (lees), and ever-so-slight balsamic vinegar tingle (VA) that brightens the aromas. Dense but simultaneously light on its feet due to intense acidity. Slight tannic grip and a hint of creme brûlée bitterness (possibly from oak). The finish does not stop. — 10 years ago
1996 vintage. Typical pyrazine nose (bell pepper, bay leaf) with raspberry. Soft tannins stop-short the ripe red berry character. — 10 years ago
As always, Spottswoode is outstanding... don't want to stop drinking it. — 11 years ago

A little tired, but good example of mature napa cabernet. It's made in a Bordeaux style, but a little VA going on in the wine. Baked strawberries and rhubarb all day.
Had it as a side by side with the 2014 current release, which I didnt rate..it was incredibly hot (alcohol), and loads of green bell pepper. Pretty tight, and I'm sure it'll develope, but the price is a little tough..
None the less, great stop, beautiful property and historic for that matter, and a very knowledgable staff. — 7 years ago
