I bought a dozen of this wine 20 years ago and this is the 10th. Still monolithic and a bit square sided at 22 years of age. Full bodied showing black currant and herbal notes. Silky tannins but finishing a little green - showing over extraction? Next one in a few years but can’t see it changing much. As a general comment I feel that Penfolds jacking the price of 707 currently to around $550 is excessive but good luck to them for selling at this price and bringing closer to the price of Grange. Another good value from the Alto Piemonte. Great with a burger and chicken at union square cafe. Aromatic, mouth filling, balanced, loads of freshness. — 8 years ago
The nose is pure barnyard. A cow just shit in my glass while I wasn't looking. I really needed a clothes peg to block the smell. But, once you penetrate that, the wine sings on the palette. Cherries, prunes, olives, tobacco and saddle leather dance together. Finishes sweet and sexy. Purchased from British Airways after decommissioning Concorde. — 9 years ago
Love the 45% Cab Franc, which lightens and brightens in a really good way. Nice, particularly for first vintage. — 9 years ago

Deep ruby red. A fuller style for a cool climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz. Spicy and savoury with red fruits and oaky notes. Quite substantial tannins. Very early in its drinking window. Needs time to develop some complexity - a little square sided at the moment. Next in 2 to 3 years. Ended up taking a bottle to sister Helen’s place in Gloucestershire. Tasted with consistent notes - the oak seemed better balanced on this occasion. On 24th July 2019. — 6 years ago
Cherry, raspberry, cranberry, loamy earth, vanilla and oak. Good structure and soft tannins. — 7 years ago
Nose of alcohol and earthiness. Taste out of the bottle was lots of fruit forward but opened up to lots of leather and pepper. Mainly a powerful earthy and oak wine. — 7 years ago
Red wine blend, VERY good!

Smooth from start to finish, full silky flavor with soft, sweet nose, very balanced. Not sure if it's worth the $24 price... — 9 years ago
Good aroma. Its garnet color is quite good to express 2000 vintage. Dry taste even in California wine, but is it due to matured? @,sun square,160412 — 9 years ago
Drank 3/5/19. Paired well with shrimp.
My go to every night chardonnay. Right now at around $11, an excellent buy. I enjoyed this vintage perhaps a touch less than others, but overall a great wine and an outstanding value.
Nose of light tropical fruits, a touch of citrus and butterscotch. Palate medium + body with pear, lemon curd, buttery notes, and a hint of oak. A nice balance for those who enjoy a bit of oak in their Chardonnay.

Huge huge wine. Not sure how would actually peg it as burg. After an hour it was relieved of some of its "stress". Deep black cherry. Somehow was refreshing... killer wine. Not sure it's worth the $$, but great. — 9 years ago

This is a nice glass of wine by the fountain in the square while devouring my steak. Not overpowering, but a great, dry, charcoaly peppery finish with the red fruit almost in the background. Simplish in that the peppery note may be its only note. But it's a good note! — 6 years ago
