Rompicollo vineyard. Volcanic soil rich in tuff. Pitigliano and scansano estate. Southern facing. Heart of maremma toscana in southwestern Tuscany. — 9 years ago
Really dark opaque purple, with dense color tone not eased up on the rim. The bubbles are purple too. It shows a bit brownish tone on the rim. Beautiful dense legs on the rim flowing slowing downward. Nose of ripe dark sweet fruit, wood fragrance like cedar, leather, herbs, jam, raisin, and a slight hint of spice. All the fragrance is saturate, but in harmony. Taste of bright acidity, dried apricot, peppery, black tea, zest, dark chocolate, medium tannins, oaky, and peaty. Aftertaste is long with dark chocolate and coffee-mocha note, and a bit tea flavor. Wow. I hope I have another bottle for aging. — 10 years ago

Shipped from Italy in 2006. A favorite — 9 years ago
Ok. This NEEDS air. The typical Sangiovese acid was string at first. The next day..... Wham.... The nose is like sweet, dusty cherries surrounded by shoe leather. Incredibly smooth in the palate, gleaming with strawberry notes. Felt more full bodied in the mouth after a day of air. — 10 years ago
Transparent garnet in the glass. Black cherry and cedar on the nose. Firm velvety tannins rule the palate of black tea and black cherry. Dark anise finish. — 11 years ago
Very easy drinking wine with 100% Sangiovese, aged for 2 years in French barrels, which are smaller. — 11 years ago

At first, this wine seemed slightly over the hill. Not sure if it was pairing with food, some aeration or the alcohol (in my head) that let this wine blossom in the glass. This wine sings after 30 minutes. Somewhat soft and round with lots of structure and backbone making a for a great balanced wine. — 7 years ago
This is amazing juice. Sexy, opulent, tons of energy and verve. And still a baby in its development - the house style focuses on early drinkability. But with no corners cut on balance or depth. Paired with some incredible venison medallions, this put me on nuvola nove. 😁 — 8 years ago
Last of two purchased in Italy. Can't believe it has been 8 years since I opened the previous bottle. Still drinking well and tannins are not as drying as the last one. From the Tuscany/Umbria border near Lago di Trasimeno and cellared in an ancient Etruscan tomb. Up to four years in barrel and three in bottle before release. Current release vintage is 2008, which @AntonioGalloni recently gave a nice score (93+). Will definitely be on my list of places to try and visit on our next trip. — 9 years ago
Reliving our time at their winery in 2013. Brought a few back and this is Incredible right now! Red fruits, Oak, VERY full bodied with a 30 sec finish!! Bet this would be good in 5 more years too.......outstanding Super Tuscan, and what a flash back to tasting it at the winery in Montalcino!! — 9 years ago
Very good chianti Classico in a classic sense. Good fruit, soft tannins, and great old wold terroir that makes the finish a great example of how good Sangiovese can be at a very reasonable price point. — 11 years ago
Sovestro in San Gimignano. Beautiful. — 12 years ago

I really enjoyed this!
Dark, thick wine where you can really taste the Syrah and tannins. Spicy and full of fruit. Paired very nice with prosciutto wrapped chicken. Definitely young with many years left in it! Not bad at the restaurant list price of £50. — 6 years ago
