Suggested while dining at Barchetta, NYC. 2 acre lot in Italy, multiple varietals, sommelier worked there, thus the access. Nose was funky without overpowering the fruit. Went well with our whole roasted Black Sea bass and grilled octopus but would have also worked with venison or lamb chops. Was told the price was "two digits" but I have yet to see the bill. — 10 years ago
We enjoyed this at Husk Nashville last night. It was recommended bc it pairs well with a wide variety of foods. The sommelier put it on the menu for this purpose & highly recommended their catfish, chicken or pork entrees to go with it. The flavors changed throughout the meal. At first it smelled earthy & musky. Acidic beginning with hints of fennel & a dark cherry. By the middle of our meal it strangely had an effervescent mouth feel & became more fruit forward. By the end it tasted strongly of strawberry jam. The reason I rated it so highly is bc it flowed through dinner so well! - this was the 2012 vintage — 10 years ago

Suggested by the sommelier to go with my filet. A super Tuscan that rivals the big guns - Sassicaia, Orneillaia, or Ca' Marcanda. Delicious! — 11 years ago
My personal sommelier from Total Wine recommended this. It's not Brown, but not far behind. — 11 years ago
I can't believe I didn't rate this or write it up at the time. A suggestion from Rory Pugh, the sommelier at the Grand Del Mar (Fairmont) in San Diego. I forget if we were at Amaya or Addison. Regardless, this was a great suggestion by Mr. Pugh and an eye-opener. Went great with our entrees, which I'm sure were meat-centric. Had it again in Boston at Craigie on Main many months later. This is a terrific Bordeaux. — 10 years ago

2012 Sawtooth Syrah, Snake River Valley, #Idahowine @sawtoothwinery this is a big, smoky Syrah and a bit more meaty than previous vintages. Aromas of smoke, blueberry and dark plum laced with espresso and toasted almond. Firm tannins and a vvety texture. Probably could benefit from 6 more months bottle age. #wine #sommelier #syrah #idaho #sawtooth — 11 years ago

After a great chat with the sommelier at the Slanted Door, we decided on this small production label. Balanced, complex, and flavorful. Paired well with an array of dishes. — 10 years ago
2012 Paradise Springs 'Melange' Red blend from Virginia #VAwine. Blend of Merlot, Cab Sauv & Petit Verdot. Explosive dark fruit aromas of black cherry, plum, cassis and black raspberry. Hints of earth and black pepper following through a seamless and long, plush finish. Quite velvety. #wine #sommelier — 11 years ago

2006 Bodegas Hispanic + Suizas 'Bassus' blend of Bobal, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah from Utiel-Requena. Notes of toast, violets, clove, cinnamon and dried fig and plum. Elegant on the palate, it offers layers of spicy fruit and good depth. #wine #spain #sommelier #winelover — 11 years ago
