Steak night on vacation in the outer banks.
Having an Idaho vs Napa cab comparison. We went to Idaho for a wedding in June and purchased some local wines.
2014 Split Rail Winery vs 2013 Chappellet Napa Valley cab.
This is massive at 15.6% abv with equally big blueberry, cassis, smoke, and touches of lavender. Very surprised by how well this wine was! This was $33 vs the $65 Chappellet price point. — 5 years ago

Really well balanced and fun to pick apart. Also fun to drink. — 7 years ago
Fantastic Bordeaux blend. Is fruit forward with dark cherries, some jam qualities, vanilla on the finish but nice tannins and acidity to keep it very interesting. — 7 years ago
Dark red cherry upfront, lighter mid palet and spicy finish. Starting to lose body. — 4 years ago
Very good merlot. Easily could be Napa or Sonoma. — 5 years ago
Spicy, earthy and pipe tobacco. Only thing missing would be a longer finish. Love this winery. — 6 years ago
Deeply mineral and fruity with an excellent fruit and cedar nose. — 7 years ago
Let it come to temperature and you have a lovely all occasion wine. — 7 years ago
Well. This wine must be getting over its peak. Somewhat flat, had lost its spiciness. Flavors of dark plum, dry fog and tobacco. — 4 years ago
In Idaho for a wedding and needed to try some local wines. After a 12 hr travel day from south jersey to Ketchum....this paired with a local grass feed brie & fig topped burger is much needed. BlackBerry, plum, bacon fat, olive tapenade, and smoked meats. This could go against any old world syrah. Highly enjoyable. — 5 years ago
Idaho...who knew
Oak gives it a rough and rustic spice. Very earthy. — 6 years ago
Tasty Idaho wine with a little help from Washington. Cab, merlot and syrah blend and a great value. — 7 years ago
Black, deep, and mineral with a lingering woody finish. — 7 years ago
A mild cab sav, somewhat fruity. — 7 years ago

Mourvèdre is the Snake River AVA winner but Zin is a close second. Koenig gets it. Turley-ish. Cellar worthy. — 4 years ago
