Cork had gone which meant some filtering. Not so fun. Wine hadnt been well kept but had resisted. Very complex flavours and clear quality shone through, even though it wasnt at its best. Should have cracked this open a year ago! — 10 years ago

Started off as pale, thin and Maderized. I had slim hopes. But it made a tremendous come back. Within 45 to 60 minutes it was rich, dark fruity and balanced. It bloomed and shone. It never completely lost it's mustiness, but it darkened, became around and very fruity. The acid continued throughout. It had only a short window before it began to fade. It had its 15 minutes of fame, but oh what a 15 minutes. — 11 years ago

Just when you thought it was all over...

On the nose, the wine is slightly minty and spicy. Fruit is dominant. On the palette, the tight mountain fruit shone through. Blacurrants and blueberries bring a laser focus on the mid-palette - it's almost weightless. It finishes with super fine tannins. This wine has stood still and has retained much of its youthfulness. I'd love to take another look at this 10 years from now. — 10 years ago

Been holding onto this one for a couple years with good reason. The wine is aged but with some fruity overtones. After a decant, some of the alcohol smell blew off and the dirt and earth shone through. Lovely with lamb and pasta. — 11 years ago

A deceptively sweet nose gives way before a pleasing, zippy acidity that cuts through a harmonious blend of minerality and notes of strawberry. Light effervescence completes the package. This was SO GOOD with a short rib stroganoff I made - light acidity cut nicely through the cream sauce and the black pepper flavor shone through beautifully. Must must must! Without food it was already a leads to drink though a bit light and not as interesting; phenomenal with food. — 10 years ago
