Excellent... But it's interesting to compare this to #1 tonight--- Faust..both 2016 Napa cabs. Faust was $52, Krug $29. So what's the difference? A lot, you be the judge if it's worth 23 bucks. Take the Faust, and remove the blackberry, leaving a greenish-pine alcohol warmed bouquet. Take the spherical mouth of Faust and shave it such that you have angular, sharp edges. Then Krug ends with a dryer, perfumed drying tannins.
So, this is an excellent wine, about 1.5 points below the Faust. So make your own calculation, but to me, I'd spend the money for the upgrade.

Love this wine. Crisp and well balanced. Has complexity. — 9 years ago
Earthy, but smooth. Robust yet palatable. Subtle in all the right ways. Tastes a lot Faust. — 10 years ago
Full bodied white, a Valais specialty with taste of Linden. Perfect pairing to the rich Chinese Dishes @ China Garden, Zermatt. Tomorrow lockdown of Restaurants starts here too 😩 — 4 years ago
They were featuring wines from Finca Parera at the El Diset in Barcelona. This blend of Granache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Merlot was balanced, herbaceous and earthy with a nice finish. — 6 years ago
Sourced from stagecoach. Heavy oak and blackberry on the nose, ripe blackberry on the palette. Super long finish, nice balance of tannin. — 7 years ago

This is a tasty Napa Cabernet. Rich, extracted and elegant.
Showing blackberries, black currants, raisins, sweet cherries, chocolates, cedar, vanilla, coffee, earth, light vegetables, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.
Long finish with round tannins.
Needed a few hours of decanting, which I did not have at this time.
Still very young, but already enjoyable. Needs 3 years in the bottle to mature properly, and will age nicely in the next 10 years.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Opened and poured into a ship decanter for two hours before being returned to the bottle another couple of hours prior to dinner at Le Bouillon. A golden color that seem lighter on the rim. On the nose, this is eminently rustic with stone fruits, wild flower honey, echinacea and butterscotch. On the palate, not nearly as oxidative as the nose would suggest. In fact, this is remarkably fresh with bright apricot and nondescript tropical fruits. Medium-plus acid. The finish is long and somewhat saline. A wine of brilliant texture. A stunning pairing with marinated octopus and was delightful with the other courses of our meal as well. A small portion was left for further evaluation the following day. I am happy to report that it held up very well indeed. The late Serge Hochar once said that his white wines seem to gain freshness with age. The 2005 vintage shows there is likely truth to his assessment. Well cellared examples should drink well for at least another decade. I, for one, look forward to checking in on these for many years to come. — 4 years ago
