One of true great secrets of the wine world. 70% Chardonnay and 30% Tressallier. Nothing like it. Energy for days. Beautiful pillow like aromas. Candied but so barely it’s remarkable. Hint of confectionary. Stoney, so floral. Haunting. Just ridiculous. This is the best bottle of this wine I’ve had so far. There is such a purity to the aromas which are so unique because Tressallier is such a freaky grape. But it’s a fine aroma. Amazing palate. Such depth, density and acidity and a taught structure. The energy and intensity is incredible. So long, so mineral. Outrageous. This would compete in a line up of Meursault Perrieres. Structure to burn and a bright future. This will be best in 7 years I think. This is built like a brick house. — 6 years ago
Dark, shimmering allure. More years might have made it even better, sure, but we were psyched to enjoy its luscious secrets in the here and now. What a treat. — 8 years ago
Much lighter than expected, solidly medium bodied, nice acid, delicious. One of the great secrets out there. — 9 years ago
The color is garnet with a few signs of rust even at this young age. A touch of purple undertones and a wide rim. Everything about this screams Nebbiolo at you, starting with the nose. Customary dried cherries and old leather. Figs, heavy spice, and smoke. It gives you a whiff of dark chocolate just because it’s being nice.
Decanting is a must but after that it starts to reveal its secrets. The acid is there but comparatively mild and things are quite tannic. Not exactly austere but certainly leaning towards it, just like I like it. The palate follows the nose with the more pronounced earth and truffles. It takes a while to really open up and evolve. If you’re impatient you might only get to the good stuff at the very end. — 5 years ago
Acidity smoothed out with breathing. Strong plum. Made in steel instead of oak. — 6 years ago
Vibrant Ruby red color, hints of leather, smoky with heavy tannins. Very nice bottle of wine.

Carignan singing in the glass. Harmonious acids. Tannins whispering secrets. — 9 years ago
Almost nothing on the nose, but a hint of vanilla and a Ruby color. Very forward, with light to medium tannins, with chocolate and wood. Thick texture, and perhaps needs to breathe a bit. Not giving up it's secrets — 6 years ago

One of the best kept secrets... unique fresh summer wine with citrus flavors (grapefruit?). Just love it! — 8 years ago
The Anvil Cabernet is 100% Cabernet. 60% from Pepper Bridge and 40% from Minnick Hills. 100% New French Oak. On the nose, ripe, slightly candied, blackberries, dark cherry, plum, touch of spice, black moist earth and dark fresh flowers. The body is M and the tannins are M+. The fruits are deliciously ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, plum, black & raspberries. cigar, leather, crushed rocks, dark chocolate chalky saline minerals, spice, round nice acidity and a beautiful round fruit driven finish. Photos of; the tasting bar, Forgeron fruit sourced Vineyard, Marie Eve with her husband Gilles who is the Wine Director at Long Shadows and the exterior of the tasting room and production. Producer history and notes...Forgeron opened 2001, as the 23rd winery in Walla Walla. Marie-Eve Gilla (Owner/Winemaker) has French roots. She studied viticulture and oenology in Burgundy. The production and tasting room were a stones throw from our hotel. It's located in a turn of the Century blacksmith shop. Blacksmith translates from English to French as Forgeron. I'd never had Marie-Eve's wines until now. I was introduced to the idea by her husband Gilles who is the Wine Director at Long Shadows. However, after enjoying his wines, I was inspired to stop by and check out Marie-Eve's wines. I wasn't disappointed. Most every Walla Walla producer I met considered her wines one of the best kept secrets in Walla Walla. — 9 years ago

At PnP was really right and didn’t want to give up its secrets. A half hr of air and it relented—layers of flavors. Will revisit again as it opens more, but the nose and taste are delicious already. — 5 years ago
