Scar Of The Sea

Domaine de la Brunély

Vieilles Vignes Chateauneuf Du Pape Red Rhone Blend 2018

A nose of saluted licorice

Heavily weighted, A mouthful of elegant dark fruits wrapped in cedar, Thai basil, sea air, eucalyptus, blackberry, Mexican cacao.
Very approachable and pleasant after - couple of hours airtime.

Domaine Leflaive

Clavoillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Aromas of citrus blossom, acacia and honey were immediately revealed

The palate offered lemon merengue, orange marmalade and ricola with some vanillin and spice present on the lengthy finish

Good focus up front with a vibrant energetic midpalate ~ and over time sea shells, salinity and minerality unfolded

In Short this is a very pretty wine in a lovely spot and perfect for warm weather consumption

Lewelling Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Deep ruby color. Delicate aromas of raspberry, black currants, pencil, menthol and a hint of sea water. Soft, delicate black fruit, dried herbs. Unbelievable wine.

Flora Springs

Soliloquy Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Light golden in color with a yellow tint.

Strong nose of gooseberry, limes, grapefruits, light earth, green apples, spices, grass and light sea salt.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with limes, grapefruits, citrus, green apples, bitter herbs, light vegetables, light tropical fruits, spices, earth and white pepper.

Long finish with light almonds and spices.

This is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc based blend from Napa Valley.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Has a light creamy feel, which is very enjoyable.

Nicely balanced and tangy, with a soft mouthfeel.

Showing nice complexity, which you don't usually see at this young age. I can see it getting even better in the next 3 years.

I had it all by itself by the pool.

A blend of 73% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Chardonnay and 13% Malvasia. Aged for 7 months in used French oak barrels. A small production of 600 cases.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Château de la Gravelle

Sur Lie Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Melon de Bourgogne

2020 Vintage - don’t quite understand all the low score - has all the character of Muscadet without the intensity or complexity but super well made - sea spray , lees character, lemon / lime zest - nice inexpensive but good — 13 days ago

Sounds good, your score is probably more accurate. Nice meal! 🥘

Lolonis Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Nose has under-ripe peach, lemon zest, cold chalk and wet beach sand.

Palate has pineapple core, dried lemon, sea spray and dehydrated peach.

Nice balanced acidity, no real herbal notes to speak of, a different expression than the traditional style. This wine should have a long life ahead, drink 2024-31.

The inaugural, single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc for Saracina from the Lolonis Vineyard; possibly some of the oldest SB vines in the US, planted in 1942.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons and pianist Paul Lewis collaborate on the third of three concerts encompassing all five of Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano concertos in one weekend. Today's program includes OGONEK (Starling Variations, 2022; world premiere), FARRENC (Symphony No. 3 in G minor, Opus. 36) and BEETHOVEN (Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat, Opus 73, Emperor). This weekend has been an auditory pleasure, enjoying all five of Beethoven's piano concerti, and what a finale today!

@Douglas Braun @Andrew Schirmer Yes, a great weekend. But the most amazing footnote, Paul Lewis has played all 5 piano concertos this weekend without the benefit of sheet music, all memory! Plus I'm thinking might be the first soloist to perform with the BSO for 3 days continuously. We've not had a weekend of great music like this since we got all three acts of Wagner Die Walküre in one epic weekend several years back! (I had to take the next day off, we dedicated the weekend to a lot of Riesling.)
(I had to check my calendar to make sure which pieces were exhibited. 🤦‍♂️)

Les Blanchots Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2019

Delectable Wine

The 2019 Chablis Les Blanchots Grand Cru is very well defined on the nose, where sea spray and oyster shell notes combine with citrus aromas. Hints of green olive emerge with time. The well-defined palate is taut on the entry, with hints of chai tea and chamomile infusing the white peach and citrus notes, and builds nicely toward a very composed finish. Superb. Lamy & Caillat

Les Caillerets 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet Chardonnay 2016

Another 2016 white burg that has really come around. It notably gains in focus and precision in the decanter, in contrast to the vintage. There’s a killer combination of textural richness, concentration and yellow fruit intensity that’s seamlessly balanced by chiseled lemony acids, a refreshing sea spray-like salinity and a long chalky mineral inflicted finish. Sebastian Caillat is crushing it in Chassagne. — 18 days ago

Pinot Noir Rosé 2021

Beautiful color of light pink with a peachy hue.

On the nose raspberries, sweet strawberries, limes, grapefruits, spices, light herbs and light sea salt.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with strawberries, green apples, grapefruits, herbs, spices, earth, light vegetables and black pepper.

Tangy finish with spices and bitter almonds.

This is an easy drinking Rosé from Sonoma Coast. A nice summer wine.

Fruity on the nose and earthier on the palate. Light and engaging. Crisp and refreshing.

Feels like a French Rosé with a touch of new world.

Better after 20 minutes of airtime, and will pair nicely with food. I had it all by itself by the beach.

13.3% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

@"Odedi" believe it or not I was down there about 2 weekends ago but with a friend celebrating her birthday. So I’m not sure. I would have to go down with someone who could drive with me. Where would you want to go this time?

Myka Cellars

Central Coast Chardonnay 2019

Pineapple, sea breeze, green apple, faint oak. Zippy and high acid especially for a CA chardonnay. Tropical fruit, green apple, yellow apple with some distant oak and ML flavors.

Definitely my style of Chardonnay and much better than what I was anticipating.
