Killer funk, yet soft and approachable. A gem. You — 8 years ago
We came to Priorat for the wine and this 100% carignan is a great example why. Mineral but balanced, dark mixed berry but not fruit forward or jammy, a smooth finish that lingers. Priorat vines struggle in the slate and produce wines I do much enjoy.

Full bodied and lingering complexity. A great blend that comes from the Baga grape unique to the region of Bairrada. If this was from Châteauneuf-du-Pape expect to pay 3x more. — 6 years ago
Ripe stone fruit nose, peachy, juicy with nicely balanced acidity. Field blend. Chinon. — 6 years ago

This is the 'tindery' Cab franc / sauv blanc blend. Interesting enough, the sauv shows by the bucket load with a semi-slippery initial texture until the grainy greenish tannin from the Franc kicks in. The herbaceous notes from the sauv only add to how herbaceous Franc can be. It shows a lot of black cherry, sour raspberry and cut green herbs. If you look at it deeply enough it does show some guava and lychee notes from the sauv but they're probably not even worth mentioning. Co-ferment of the two I'm lead to believe, approach with an open mind, it can throw you about a bit. At $38 a bottle, bit of a gamble in my opinion, especially for something as experimental as such — 8 years ago
After years trying to taste it in a proper manner, I finally found the opportunity over a decent red pepper steak with red grape sauce. I was surprised not to see Alicante Bouschet into this baco original from the heights of the Serra de Sao Mamede in Portalegra, but the truth is that the typical granite soils from the region are powering this Touriga Nacional to its best!! Amazing quality price wine! — 9 years ago

Purchased 2015 for $25 at Grand Cata on 3/5/19. Decanted 3/9/19. Medium bodied. Bright red. Leather smoke tarragon. Touch of orange peel. Peaks of acid and tannin way back on caudal palate. Long Black Cherry finish after ten minutes open. Licorice turns to tarragon after 25 minutes. Aromas and body of light milk chocolate & caramel. — 6 years ago
In Sao Paulo, we blind tasted this and suggested Cote du Rhone, close as it is syrah, but Brazilian. It's structured like a post and beam house, solid but with a lot of space. Balanced. — 8 years ago
Bought this in Patagonia and it traveled with me through Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Central Coast of California; where I opened it at Ragged Point. Berries and vanilla. Robust and deep, but an amazingly smooth and light finish. My favorite... well worth the hassle of carrying halfway across the earth. — 9 years ago
