Love Croatian wine so much, such a diverse region. The server described this as sandy and minerally, a risky wine, and the chance was well worth it. Gooseberry, lemon, yellow flower on the nose, a bracing palate full with yellow orchard fruit, sea salt, and white stone. Long finish. A win — 8 years ago
Manuel Manzaneque Suarez Mil Cepas Cencibel vino de la teirra de Castilla 2014.
Fine, elegantly textured, energetic tempranillo from a small plot of 1000 vines on unique patch of sandy soil. #GrandCruMancha — 8 years ago
Bright, sweet dark & light cherries, cooked strawberry preserves, black raspberries, stewed plum, raspberry cola, strawberry twizzlers, violets with a just a hint of lavender, dry cut grass, crushed dry volcanic rocks & soil, fine sandy chalkiness, grey volcanic minerals, spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, red & pink fresh roses, beautiful acidity, nice tension, balance, length and a finish that goes on and on. — 8 years ago

Ok Delectable, this is the second day in a row you don't recognize my wine! Who the f-k is Agostini Petri, can anyone enlighten me? Please. Anyhow in my glass I have a beautiful wine, 1997 Castello Vicchiomaggio La Prima Chianti Classico Riserva, bottled by John Matta. Initially I found myself in Cht9, with dry, sandy tannins but the aftertaste was more like a full-bodied Bordeaux. This is a mature wine, full of dark fruit and cherries, smoked meats, good grip of tannins and acidity that provides a back-bone. Just wish I had lots and lots of bottles in my cellar. Should keep on aging beautifully many more years to come. — 10 years ago
#Turley #Wine Cellars rocking Lodi on the label, takes a bow w/ this shiner version of the Kirschenmann Vineyard, dry farmed, self rooted, planted in 1915 and still going strong in sandy loamy soils! Winemaker Tegan Passalacqua. This wine demonstrates what's possible in the Lodi AVA in the right hands! — 11 years ago
I recently read about Bedrock's purchase of the Evangelho Vineyard, and was relieved to know that these old, own-rooted vines in sandy soil will be preserved. As for the wine, it is wonderful, with raspberry/boysenberry aromas and flavors, with notes of beeswax, earth, spice, and violets. Rich and velvety, but bright in its great balance of acid, tannin, and fruit. Excellent length, and just 14.1% abv. My new favorite Zinfandel-based red blend! — 8 years ago
Pretty good for a Pinot… Sandy even likes! — 8 years ago
Friday nights wine comes from the right bank of Bordeaux - Canon Fronsac. The 2010 Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The Herve family first started making wine back in 1890 and continue to today. A great track record and delivering a well valued Bordeaux.
The nose is very expressive with dark fruits of black plum, blackberry, black currant, licorice, clove, coffee beans and tar.
Upon first sip black cherries jump out at you full force, with blueberries, a smooth coating of creme de cassis and dried oregano.
There is a nice full bodied mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium sandy tannins.
For the price this is a very nice and serviceable Bordeaux.

Tiny estate run by Jerome Gradassi just on about 5Ha, working with simple and minimal work in the vineyard on colder side of the appellation with sandy soil - he delivers small production of great Chateauneuf with much freshness, aged in used oak the wine gain texture and complexity - vines date back to the 70s with mostly Grenache and some Mourvèdre - great value for money it will have very well in the cellar for a few years 😃 — 10 years ago
