One of the most profound & satisfying gruner’s I’ve had. Notes of white pear, daffodils, green peas, white pepper, with floral and almost marzipan qualities all come together harmoniously & dance on the tongue & drives home with an intense mineral backbone. Beautiful. — 6 years ago
Precise, mineral, legumes, spice, great citrus and stone fruit character. — 9 years ago

Wonderful spring / summer Riesling — 10 years ago
Pure essence of GV. Fresh, intensive with floral and fruits aromas. A bit of minerality and papper. — 11 years ago
Pop and pour. The nose...just enrapturing. Soft coffee and coconut notes, bright raspberry, ripe wild strawberry, herbal notes, savory notes...amazing complexity. On the palate, lovely acidity, a touch of bitter medicine, earth and tree bark, then red raspberry, pepper. Medium bodied, and soft but very finely grained tannin on the finish. My best bottle so far. — 5 years ago
Very Burgundy in style with strawberries & cream + a touch of herbs. Nice mouthfeel with polished tannins and red fruit, juicy acidity. Very nice balance with a lingering finish. This is much bette than expected, Pommard Village quality for a fraction of the price. — 6 years ago
Yellow apple, over ripe pear, white raisin, green plum. — 7 years ago
Off vintage and still stunning — 8 years ago
Stunningly complex and alive, this is what I was hoping to find when opening an older bottle of Smaragd Gruner Veltliner.
The color was medium gold, no hint at all of age here.
The nose however started to put us where we were thinking, but there was still some youth. A deep and penetrating nose of golden delicious apples, yellow plums, and quince paste. The nose was so deep I wanted to jump into the glass!
The palate was exceptional, perfectly balanced with excellent density, breadth and a crazy long finish of minerals, fine acidity and subtle, juicy golden fruits.
An epic wine for me and a new benchmark for Gruner for my palate.

What a nose. Deep berry fruit and very bright. Great whip of acidity. Transparent as fuck. — 10 years ago
2011. It's Riesling. Don't let the slight RS fool you on the acid. — 10 years ago
Exotic and sweet. Perfect with the sea bream at per se — 12 years ago
About 3 years since my last bottle. This is fantastic now. On the nose: ripe peach, soft yeast, dense honeysuckle, soft petrol..so floral and intense. Fantastic acidity, and amazing density, lemon oil, peach, honey, then dripping with mineral intensity...wet stone, mineral oil, and the fruit recedes, only to reappear as soft lemon on the finish. Absolutely lovely. — 4 years ago

Wow, an absolutely glorious btl of wine. On the.nose: soft cola, blueberry, wild strawberry, a hint of young coconut, fantastic spice, freshly cut savory herbs...stunning nose. On the palate: fantastic acidity, crushed herbs, wild strawberry, crushed seeds, spice...soft tannin on the fantastically elegant finish. Young, but so much complexity and elegance. Unbelievably good. — 4 years ago
