Château Lafon-Rochet

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

Lafon Rochet 2005

Moment. Excellent accord avec le boeuf Wellington.

Cadence

Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Opaque ruby violet with prominent tears. Aromas of cherry liqueur, plum, violets, and tobacco leaf. Still quite structured on the palate although the tannins have softened. Made from 39% Cabernet Franc, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot, and 11% Merlot. 14.4% ABV. — 7 years ago

Spice Route

Malabar Shiraz Blend 2006

Loved this South African blend (64% Shiraz, 15% Mourvèdre, 9% Petite Sirah, 9% Grenache, 3% Tannat). At 12 years old, this was drinking perfectly. Dark and concentrated in the glass, the nose was full on baking spices. The palate delivered bold dark red fruit, in a silky texture.

Our neighbors have a home in South Africa and are introducing us to some local wines that are delicious but sadly hard to find in the US - if anyone knows where to find this please drop me a line in the comments! This would be a superb every day drinker.

Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards

Right Bank Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards 2013 Right Bank cab franc 67% and merlot 33%. FANTABULOUS!!!! At 60 dollars it is as high end as it gets for my taste at a budget cost. It is better than any cab franc blend Ive ever had at any price. it has a unique oak and spice to it. No chocolate nor vanilla. Loads of Black licorice and cigar. A wonderful change. Still lots of dark berries on the beginning and very dry on the finish. This will never disappoint. Must decant however for at least 30 min in large decanter. — 8 years ago
