@Delectable Wine this is the 2017 Verspieren-Haberer Grenache Rosé Rosalie.
Second wine for Christmas at my Uncles house in South Africa. Beautiful light salmon pink. Lots of layers on the nose with notes of watermelon, strawberries, and white flowers. High acidity (7/10) and light bodied. Zesty and crisp on the palate. Lovely roses, strawberries, melon and watermelon. Insanely long and lingering finish. Perfect for the hot summer day today, love what Thierry is doing in SA! Drink till 2021. (92+)

Love what Thierry is doing with this Rosé and with all the wines and barrels we tasted today at the Holden Manz Wine Estate with Wayne Buckley-Koch (Marketing Director) and Gerard Holden (Owner). This bottling is made up of 63% Grenache, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 9% Cinsault and 7% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from various areas in the Coastal Region, like Wellington and Stellenbosch for the Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault as well as Franschhoek Valley for both Cabernets. Gently pressed as whole bunches before settling in the steel tanks for 12 hours and being removed from the lees. Very excited to try out the 2018 if we get a chance, it is supposed to be lighter and more elegant with less Cabernet.

I approached Rosalie with trepidation, because I'm not a fan of flavored beer. I generally feel you can keep your pumpkin-raspberry-hibiscus beers and give me some hops, lots of ‘em. This beverage surprised me. It has a rich orange color, more electric than in either beer or wine. The nose comes on with plenty of floral notes and a sour edge. The palate shows the malt and hops as well as the hibiscus. There's a nice acidity, a lighter feel than beer and a little more weight than wine. I like it, hibiscus and all. — 7 years ago
