2014 Kosta Browne Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. Frighteningly good! (Get it? You know, Halloween? Never mind) The Santa Lucia has become one of my favorites from KB. Beautiful bright garnet color. Spicy aromatics of berries, wild flowers and anise. Honeyed fresh ripened black cherries and Dr Pepper (in a good way) on the palate. A mushroomy, sandalwood, herbaceous, forest floor component lurking in the shadows Vibrant and powerful. Good acidity. I don’t understand the professional reviews that describe this Wine as “light-bodied.” What am I missing? Maybe because the grapes come from the coolest region of KB’s three appellation level Pinots? In any event, I think I prefer it to the Russian River and Sonoma Coast bottlings. Don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by a KB. Along with CIRQ, Marcassin and Ferren, my favorite Pinots. My best to Dan Kosta after the devastating fires. — 8 years ago

a creative scientist’s labor of love made of 36 varietals. the culmination of several grapes makes this white a complex, fascinating bottle. — 6 years ago
Impatiently picking and eating strawberries that are still white on the top. Grittiness like panning for gold on a hot day in gold country. — 7 years ago
Big, bold and smokey, good with steak.

Aged in steel and aged barrels; crisp and not too oaky. Enjoyed with a friend at a neighborhood tasting event at the Highlands. — 9 years ago
Not as opulent as some Central Otago Pinots. This is from Martinborough. James Halliday who has had more Burgundies than most of us called this the "Pommard of New Zealand"! Notes of spice and rhubarb with excellent length. A top quality Pinot. Not cheap at $100+. — 9 years ago
This is a tiny family winery near cold climate Orange in NSW which was a welcome discovery when I was judging at the 2017 Toowoomba Wine Show. They make award winning Shiraz Viognier and straight Viognier in minute quantities. It would be safe to say this would be the first bottle of this wine ever consumed in Copenhagen as I brought it over here. This is a full bodied flavoursome and voluptuous White with attractive Apricot flavours and some bitterness to finish off. Very Good. — 7 years ago

Just perfect. Light color, but lots of depth in flavor. Red berries and Central Otago dirt. Strong sense of terroir and place. Perfect balance. And so, so drinkable. — 6 years ago
