😙 sour sour sour, but delicious 🤤 — 5 years ago
Love this old old vine cuvee. Complex nose of mid season cherry fruit, florals, huge rocky minerals and rock dust, some game, and lovely dust. So good. Smells ethereally complex. Like a Gamay forest. Palate is deep, deep, deep and so pure with incredible freshness and mineral energy that cleanses the palate. So juicy. Terrific, grainy and caressing tannins. This is a terrific Godefroy that has a very long life ahead of it. Really great depth and serious midpalate density. But the freshness and waves of energy on the finish are what make this wine extra special. — 5 years ago

Very aromatic. Spicy and savory. Very flavorful but not sweet. Great finish — 8 years ago
Hot off the truck... I love the sweet-tart elegance and crisp, very clean finish. Hints of citrus (read blood-orange and ruby red grapefruit!), baking spice and a zippy laser-like finish promise to make this wine a spring/summer favorite. Kudos to the guys at Radio-Coteau for the third year in a row. So far my California 2016 roses have all been great! — 9 years ago
Dark red/purple to red rim. Red apple skin, rose, dried sour cherry on nose after 30 minutes in the glass, more iron and paint thinner when first opened. Medium acidity, waves of iron, earth and spice in the mouth, subtle fruit, slightly bitter and peppery finish. — 10 years ago

Wow! Zesty, got straight up dryed lemongrass with lemon juice, pith and a hard under ripe apricot and pith, and wild white flowers, that's pours acid all over your tongue that cascades with waves of minerality, the weight, the texture, the acid, so on point.
Sure to be a benchmark. — 11 years ago
Blackouts are not “rolling” in Dallas. Power is just out forever. Opened this to make the evening a little better. I have power now, but I know it won’t last long. This wine is helping. A little funk on the nose. Herbal notes with a hint of spice on the finish. Don’t hold these for much longer. — 5 years ago

Fun and affordable wine for a quick dinner. Would drink it again. — 6 years ago
Everything great Bordeaux should be. Cork crumbled in the Durand but first sniff and I knew it was on. Waves of saddle leather, tobacco, cedar, forrest floor and cherries. The wine was intense but more feminine than I expected, a great balance. Truly one of the best and most memorable bottles I've had the last few years. This is what drinking wine is all about, experiences that shake you to your core. — 10 years ago

Though not the same as it was pre-COVID -19, a handful of us were able to gather (while keeping our distance) to celebrate being back together and opened some fun wines to share. Wine is always better with good company.
The ‘04 has always been a favorite of mine, but this is really close. Aromatically, it is decadent and seductive. Sweet and ripe red, blue and black fruits dipped in fondue chocolate, with graham cracker and espresso, but also a charcoal/graphite like mineral note. It is silky on the palate with waves of more chocolate dipped fruits, nutmeg, Mexican vanilla and dust all wrapped in a rich profile that is still elegant and balanced. @Ted Corvey Held onto it as long as I could. That's not to say I was saving it, but I just was waiting for the right time. Tonight was that time. I took refuge from the hordes playing Pokemon outside and cracked this bottle and poured a glass. Despite the deep purple robe, it doesn't even do the flavor justice. Humongous waves of plum, blackberry, and black cherry give way into cayenne with a hint of something I can't quite put my nose on. Huge tannins leave the palette simultaneously dry and salivating. It's a great wine, only deducted points because it's not my preferred style. Still, this is a wine to be respected. — 9 years ago

The 2018 Pichon-Lalande was given an hour’s decant and then observed over the next 24 hours. It has clearly retained the showstopping nose that I encountered from barrel, those same “gentle waves" of black cherries and blueberry, incense and violets lending it a Margaux-like allure. The palate is vibrant and full of tension from the start, the acidity slicing through the layers of quite plush black fruit, judiciously laced with tobacco and mint. There is a beguiling sense of harmony conveyed by this Pichon-Lalande and although there is clearly plenty of structure, the tannins are so pixelated and pliant that it might well be broachable in 4–5 years’ time. Personally, however, I would prefer to cellar it for 8–10 years (by which time I hope that the new Cure album is finally released). However long you decide to keep it tucked away, this is a quite brilliant Pauillac. (Neal Martin, Vinous. March 2021)
