Had a taste of this yummy late harvest Riesling today from Rheingau at work as a deductive tasing session. Candied nuts, petroleum, beeswax, dried grass on the nose but the palate is awesome - minerality, ripe apricot and apple cider with medium residual sugar and light acidity. The viscosity is really nice coating the mouth just enough to get the balance of sweet and sour taste. Thumbs up for the Old World Riesling Spatlese 👍. — 6 years ago

A slightly closed nose with piquant notes of citrus and white peach and just a touch of grass and stone. The palate is bright and juicy with zesty acidity. Juicy, rich flavors of grapefruit, peach and melon rind lead to more crisp notes of slate and stone. The finish is laced with a touch of honey and lots of rich, long lasting acidity. — 8 years ago

Rich, waxy and mineraly on the nose with just a hint of petrol. Bright, bone dry and rich on the palate. Deep stone and mineral flavors with just a hint of sour citrus fruit and bracing acidity. The finish is long and bright with a touch more minerality. — 9 years ago

2007 vintage. Very good example of mature Riesling, despite its slight leaker status. Dried pineapple, overipe nectarine, quince, honeycomb, burnt lemon peel, apricot, jasmine tea, birch bark. Ripping acidity and ripeness, with very long finish. Good quality, though probably nearing the peak before its inevitable decline (caveat emptor: cork was not in good shape, though not surprising given its age). — 7 years ago

Once I learned what 'reductive' meant, this turned out to be a fantastic #riesling! That initial smell can be off-putting, but give it some swirl and some time and it opens beautifully.
