Enough matured. Complexity is more than concentration. Forest floor. Crognolo 12 @1400, Eva - Piccola, 250123-250125,90 — 3 months ago
Elegant and earthy. Drinking perfectly now, and needed only a short time to completely open up. Start out with dark cherry flavors, and ends in earth and tar. Sangiovese, but quite different from Chianti and Brunello in style. An excellent if somewhat pricey $75 purchase. — 5 years ago

It's always a big gamble when you buy and open a really old wine from less than a first rate producer, from a secondary region and from a year most people don't know anything about in that region. It is always a good policy to expect a disappointment when you pop the cork. But like every big gamble, when the bet comes through the rewards are tantalizing. This was more than I could have ever hoped for. The cork (albeit short) was firm and in one piece. Always a good start. And then the perfume came. The room filled with gorgeous light scent of red fruits and florals. The wine itself was very light but muddy in color and completely bricked. But it was magical. Light, almost ethereal, but so young and fresh. It was all primary aromas - cherries, and other red fruits. Great acidity and just perfect tannic backbone. Drank over an hour this kept getting better. But the experience was truly magnificent. Well done you, old Italian man who put this in a bottle 58 years ago! — 10 years ago
Last ‘17 in cellar! In the heart of the Chianti lies Estate of Sette Ponti, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past village of San Giustino Valdarno. Has 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques, deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with blossom notes, spice and fine integrated tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Nice! Will age a bit more! Tasting well now! — 3 years ago
Nice cabernet, paired it with Rotini and tomato with basil sauce. Red fruits on the pallatte with medium tannins. — 10 years ago

2022 vintage. Durty dirty intro nose. Medium body. Grippy with little hedonism. Very businesslike. Should age effortlessly for a solid 20-spot. Woulda picked it up but surprisingly good in the Italian section in that price range. It's in the notes tho...do occasionally recall/pluck sin on sin a wine from time to time and commit. Could see this easily rolling into 9.5 territory within the next decade. 04.02.25. — a month ago
