I adore Verduno and also import this wine. So I’m biased. But no fake news here. As good as any Verduno out there with apologies to Burlotto. Light strawberry color. Stunning nose. Roses, spices, sweet cherries, minerals, tree bark. So so good. Just inviting. Who needs chillable Gamay? Some leather as well. Just delightful. Even some white pepper. Palate is fresh and energetic with lovely elegant lights fruit and terrific transparency. Round but also fresh and earthy. Hints of raspberry iced tea, barely there tannins. Don’t think, just drink. — 4 years ago
Nuove bottiglie con pelaverga, nebbiolo, Barbera, freisa... — 6 years ago
Really clean and easy with the essence of fruit way back there like light rose petals with a touch a some watery strawberry (trust me it’s refreshing) like strawberry water, really nice light rusty red that’s fairly clear, a super complex wetness that is the best part (tied with fruit subtleties) and a general acid to tannin balance that is quite pleasant, mild earthiness in that balance that lightly grips the roof of the mouth. — 7 years ago
2nd Pelaverga this week and not mad about it. Medium–light bodied. Very mineral, wet steel, black pepper (not as pronounced as other Pelaverga?), tart cherry, rhubarb, delicate tannins, lots of acidity, 12% alcohol. From Flatiron Wines. 02/08/22 — 2 years ago
Light easy drinking rare Northern Italian wine. Very interesting and fruity. — 4 years ago
Light but don’t let that fool you, it’s has a delectable white pepper spice and young fruit that pairs well with food or can be drunk alone! — 4 years ago
Fun! Super light body, lots of white pepper and rose. Very easy to drink. — 5 years ago
Shows the warm of the ‘09 vintage very well. Succulent, full, guided by its overt personality than alluring tension. Plenty of bright acid, tannins are sleek and show a musculature nature without being too dominating on the palate. Ripe black cherry, roasted strawberry, candy cap mushroom, tar, rose, licorice candy, ferns, Ceylon, ting of allspice. Very happy with how this drank, perfect for homemade Pappardelle w/braised rabbit (in Burlotto Pelaverga of course) — 5 years ago
This is not a Pelaverga but a Dolcetto D'Alba. Had it in Turin with Jerome and Davide. Paired it with Risotto ai Funghi e Tartufi, outstanding fennel au gratin in Torino. Go Piedmont! — 7 years ago
A bit reddish golden color; peach and apple on the move with hint red gooseberry; some tannins. Great surprise for Italian sparkling. — 7 years ago
Black pepper and light baking spice, some mushroom and wet earth, stewed cherries and prune, wet steel, nice tannins and bright acidity. From Prospect Wines 02/05/22 — 2 years ago
Darker than the Langhe Nebbiolo and Pelaverga tried on same weekend and more purple than the Langhe Friesa. Compared to Burlotto’s Aves Barbera which is aged in wood, this is a lighter interpretation. Although I understand the best Barbera fruit goes into the Aves don’t underestimate this as it is bright and pure with the same plum accent. Nice — 3 years ago
Cherry, green coffee, alcohol smell, beautiful light ruby red color, acid, cherry, mild musky smoke, acid cuts at the end and sits creating a cold-hot illusion — 5 years ago
My first Freisa ever, lovely fruity, with some tannins, feels like inbetween Pelaverga and Langhe Nebbiolo🍷🇮🇹 — 5 years ago
Lovely, herbal and spicy, sour cherry. Delicate and yet intense and concentrated (flavor, not extraction). Reminiscent of Burlotto pelaverga to me. — 6 years ago
Surprisingly fruity, strong - yet elegant. Fresh pepper and medium complexity. — 6 years ago
Earthy, blackberry, black pepper. Soft tanning and beautiful acidity — 7 years ago
