1989 vintage. Chrismaka lunch at home. Medium amber hue. Should be oxidised from colour, but isn't. Mushroom, honey, slightly sherries, walnuts. Butterscotch and popcorn notes. Rich, complex and mature. On the palate, ripe and medium acidity, medium plus body and medium alcohol. Very long finish. Really enjoyable although not at its best. Drink now - not suitable for further ageing. — 10 years ago
A marriage of younger more primal and pear driven whisky blended with much older whisky matured in sherry casks. The unmistakable peat and terroir of ardbeg shows brilliantly, with the older sherries whisky providing even more detail and finesse. Warmer flavors than the Corryvreckan. Exemplary in is depth and density. 54+% abv, and takes very well to a few drops of water. — 11 years ago
Wow! Smells almost of butterscotch but a more complex finish. One of the best sherries I have tried. — 11 years ago

Giancarlo made me buy this and glad that he did. So cool to drink alongside sherries for comparison. — 12 years ago
I love Spanish sherries. AKA amontillado — 12 years ago
Very good wine smells intensively to sherries and has great taste. Perfect to cheese and meat but also without food. — 13 years ago
The quintessential Manzanilla, the driest of the dry sherries - hint of saline tang, crushed flint and a bit of olive fruit. High acidity but will balanced. Bone dry. There is no better wine to pair with jamón, anchovies, olives...any and all tapas — 9 years ago

One of the best Sherries I've ever heard. Unctuous with hints of golden raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, dates, and caramel. -2014 — 10 years ago
1860 Palo Cortado, Privilegio from Hidalgo, bottle no. 229, 20% Abv. The King of rare, expensive sherries. Medium mahogany hue. Ridiculous complexity on the nose: salt, anchovy, Xmas cake, walnut, wood polish, caramel and vanilla essence. On the palate, medium body, huge acidity and persistence of flavour, extremely long, while elegant and graceful. Not quite as good as a previous faultless 100 point bottle I enjoyed in Sevilla. But stunning nonetheless. — 11 years ago
49 La Bota de Amontillado. Medium mahogany- looks more like an Oloroso than an Amontillado, which gives some indication of extreme ageing. The nose is not as I was expecting. It's deep, slightly reductive, hints of caramel, seaweed, wet pebbles, old oakwood- very unusual and inviting. It's very viscous on the glass - the tears are staining. On the palate, it's very powerful but not in an over-done way. Lots of salinity, rancid savoury character - iodine and charcoal / graphite. The semblance of acidity appears to be off the charts - my mouth is watering like crazy. (Not sure if this is actual acidity as deliberate oxidised sherries aren't necessarily known for raging acidity.) There's a sour bitterness here that is very powerful and might not be liked by everybody. The finish goes on for ages. This is a connoisseur fortified wine - I am sure the average punter will hate this as the flavour profile is so uniquely different. Therefore only drink with sherry-heads. For sheer uniqueness it gets a high score. — 11 years ago
The nose on this wine transports you to places few Sherries can. So savory and long. Beautiful. — 11 years ago
I blame Sams for this purchase; I didn't even need a dessert wine! Still, at $21 I wasn't about to say no. First foray with a TF and I'm not disappointed. I'm a Graham's 20 Year guy at heart, but this 10 year strikes a nice balance between sweetness (maple syrup), fruitiness (raisins/grapes) and even a touch of earth. Still a nice red color - not brown like some ports/sherries - you still feel the heat of the alcohol, but the aging takes a bit of the edge off. — 12 years ago
The aroma is so rejuvenatingly fresh. Birch juice, honeyed pear, green apples, yeast, green olives, and ocean breeze. Very long tangy finish with a touch of butterscotch. Very crisp, rounded, softened around the edges - there’s some pungency to it but it’s integrated. This is the most drinkable of the en rama sherries I’ve tried. Note that this is the 2014 bottling, 4-5 yr aging. — 12 years ago
A gorgeous Barossa Shiraz Togo with Pedro's famous lamb! — 10 years ago
1989 vintage in magnum. Disgorged in 2010. 20 years on the years. Pinot dominated - 67%. Medium gold. Sherries and slightly oxidised on the nose. Highly concentrated. Nutty and caramelised. Ringer for Bollinger. Stone fruit profile. Good texture. Very rich. Decent acidity. I like the style but many wouldn't. Finish is reasonably long, but it's on the downhill slope. Drink now. — 11 years ago
Yes yes yes yes. One of the best white wines I've ever had. 1999, but tastes so young & fresh with the sherries character of the flor yeast. Amazing, amazing wine. The pallet is in absolute perfect balance! — 13 years ago
