Emilio Hidalgo
Privilegio Palo Cortado 1860 Jerez-Xérès-Sherry

1860 Palo Cortado, Privilegio from Hidalgo, bottle no. 229, 20% Abv. The King of rare, expensive sherries. Medium mahogany hue. Ridiculous complexity on the nose: salt, anchovy, Xmas cake, walnut, wood polish, caramel and vanilla essence. On the palate, medium body, huge acidity and persistence of flavour, extremely long, while elegant and graceful. Not quite as good as a previous faultless 100 point bottle I enjoyed in Sevilla. But stunning nonetheless.
