California Rosé Blend 2017

Pale salmon almond orange in color. Lifted strawberry, peach fuzz and nectarine fruit. Medium weight with solid acidity and a smooth mouthfeel, slightly tropical and strawberry fruit. Solid. — 5 years ago

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Color of pale yellow with bubbly nature. Nose is amazing and abundant. Waves of fragrances like ice wine, flowering note, grapefruit, passion fruits, zest, spice, butter, pepper, and ripe peach are coming waves after waves. Taste of subtle acidity, dry in nature, peppery, a hint of sweetness, ripe melon, zest, grapefruit, lime, a bit salty, and a bit jalapeño. Aftertaste melon, grapefruit, zesty note, flowering and grassy note, and medium long. This wine is a killer if you enjoy a light but vibrant white wine. Try it at room temperature. — 7 years ago

Lovely rich style. Vibrant and full of sweet peach, apricot, acacia blossom and perfume. Leesy and creamy too. Good full style, creamy, rich and full of ripe stoney fruit. Good length. 2014 don't take no prisoners! — 9 years ago

Marcassin

Marcassin Vineyard Chardonnay 2010

Dan was being very curmudgeonly as he could taste butterscotch in this wine. I say he was right. I'd ALSO say I'll take every last bottle of this he has left and will even volunteer to take them away personally! Poured a medium amber color. Notes of butter and herb om the nose. Entry is overripe stone ground fruits with a nice weighted base. Butterscotch in front and middle but trails away in the finish where this wine just kind of dances more with a tarragon and peach kind of note. The only white I dared to try with the braised pork and pickled peppers. Although neither was a perfect complement, I was shocked at how this one definitely didn't run away! A true Marcassin! If you have these, I think I'd drink now. — 5 years ago

Butterscotch was the common theme around this and while it was there, I don’t see it as a fault when it’s a part of a wine (but when it dominates a wine, different story). This had some signature Marcassin wax, sea salt and roasted & honeyed stone fruits. Delicious.

Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2013

David T

The 2013 blend is roughly 55 percent Sauvignon blanc, 25 percent Ribolla gialla, 15 percent Semillon, and 5 percent Tocai Friulano. All four varieties were co-fermented in 20% new Boutes barrels, and aged on its lees, with no stirring, until bottling. Splendid mix of old world with a dash of new world. The Sauvignon brings out the tropicals; peach, lychees, lime, pineapple, ripe fig, nuts and yellow & white florals. Ribolla gives it great stones & minerality. The Semillon gives it a waxy and creamy feel in the mouth. The Tocai Friulano gives it spice on the nose and palate. It's got great acidity with a rich, round, full long brilliant finish. — 7 years ago

Enderle & Moll

Weiss & Grau Burgunder Weißburgunder Grauburgunder 2014

Shy nose is coming on with air: honeysuckle flowers, dried apricot, very high-toned minerality. So dry in the mouth. Intensely mineral. Long and pure. Not a friendly wine though. More like demanding. Not sure that makes sense. Can't wait to see what it's like tomorrow.

Night 2: nose is all fruit: golden plums and lightly grilled peach with a faint citrus peel note. Fruit and minerals on the palate, with an unusual foursquare feel. Minerals minerals on the finish. All in a light-bodied, dry frame. Very distinctive.

Wines as this male me homesick & remind me of the immense potential of Australian chardonnay : brilliant straw, white flowers, Bosch pear, white peach w hazlenut brioche. Medium weight palate w flawless texture nougat, fine milled oatmeal weight (yes weird I know) w terrific length and years of potential ahead. Screwcap sealed — 9 years ago

Another great 2014 if a bit closed and needs 2 hours of air. Intensely mineral perfume. Citrus skin and oil. Peach, tangerine skin. Palate is elegant and a bit closed but with explosive citrus and a big serious mineral core. Very pure. Powerful and very concentrated. Deep. — 6 years ago

Domaine des Baumard

Savennières Chenin Blanc 2015

This afternoon our first wine is the 2015 Domaine de Baumard Savenniers. This Chenin Blanc is very well made and is a very easy drinker.

On the nose there is Apple, lemon/lime, peach, melon, mandarin orange and mineral notes.

On the palate there is yellow apple, pear, quince, lime, honey, lemon curd, a touch of oilyness and minerality.

This is a light bodied wine with medium + acidity with a long fresh finish. A beautiful Chenin Blanc with a touch of sweetness that is very easy to drink. Continued Happy Holidays and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Domaine de Chantemerle

Fourchaume Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay

From a premier cru vineyard slightly north west of the grand cru vineyard and climats. It's really good, but in the gob it's note quite my style of of high acid, bracing Chablis; this is full bodied Chablis with soft, rounder acidity. Nose of white button mushrooms, white flowers, chestnuts, squeeze of lemon, beeswax, white peach and peach skin. — 8 years ago

Château Doisy-Védrines

Sauternes Sémillon Sauvignon Blanc Blend 1996

Half-bottle. The wine was medium amber in colour and offered orange peel, apple, honeycomb, caramel, smoke, spices, sherry and a mouldy note on the nose. On the palate the wine showed orange, peach, apple, cane sugar, caramel, smoke, spices, creamy honey, some coffee, a hint of chocolate, sherry, mild black tea and a mouldy note, paired with medium-plus acidity, a creamy honey mouthfeel and very good length. Judged by this half-bottle the wine has just passed its plateau and started its slow journey on the downward slope. A good, medium-bodied Sauternes with lots of botrytis character. Drink now. 89 — 10 years ago
