Full bodied and definitely Tuscan. Sangiovese and Merlot blend from Panzano, heart of Chianti. Great QPR. — 7 years ago
Villa Cafaggio Cortaccio. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. A nice garnet colour in the glass. This 2008 is lovely. From the Panzano Estate, this wine was aged for 18 months in new French Oak. The result? A well balanced Tuscan Cabernet that delivers flavours of leather, tobacco, herbs and some earthiness. Well balanced acidity and tannins. Lovely wine.

Lovely Grand Selezion from Panzano. Had this year ago and it wasn't ready back then. Sharp edge has rounded and now it's good to go. Some vanilla notes from barrique but well integrated. — 8 years ago
Lots of ripe cherry, with tobacco, cedar and a touch of black pepper. Full bodied and smooth. Tannins are balanced yet still with a slight tightness on the finish. Will drink well for another 3-5 years. Good value at $24.

100% Sangiovese from Panzano. This CC is produced from grapes grown in the Conca d'oro (the Golden shell). Cherry, cloves, spicy. It tastes more like a Rosso di Montalcino than a CC. Try it with red meats, pork or lamb! — 11 years ago
Owned by the family since the early 70s, estate is located in the village of San Leolino, near Panzano in Chianti. A blend of 50% Cab Sauv, 35% Petit Verdot & 15% Cab Franc, aromas of fruit and floral notes. On the palate raspberry and cranberry flavors with some herbal notes. Firm tannins, good balance ending with earthy mineral character. — 7 years ago
Beautiful color, does not seem 15 years old. Deep mix of garnet and ruby in the core with some brick on the edges. Lovely aged characteristics on the nose with notes of leather, a bit dirty, meaty, dark dried cocoa, blackberries, herbs, earthy, cigar box and olives. Love the nose. Medium tannins (6/10), so smooth and well integrated with a medium plus body. Solid acidity and Tons of layers on the palate, tobacco, cherries, leather and some earthiness. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2020. Strong 92..
From what I have found I believe this is made up of 50% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot (first vintage with this much merlot), 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. Fruit comes from Conca d’Oro in Panzano from Chianti. 2003 was a difficult vintage for La Massa, only producing around 35,000 bottles of their flagship compared to the usual 75,000. Aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels, 10 of those are on the lees. Delicious bottling. Purchased through #WineBid for $45.00 compared to its average of $80.00. — 8 years ago
Our favorite from the Panzano in Chianti region. Wonderful soft Chianti, taking home in our suitcases. — 8 years ago
Very similar to the last bottle...
Lots of ripe cherry, with tobacco, cedar and a touch of black pepper. Tannins are balanced yet still with a slight tightness on the finish. Will drink well for another 3-5 years. Good value at $24.

I'm not well versed in how to describe aromas and flavors of wine, but I will say that this was a beautiful wine to drink. The flavor brought back memories of Panzano in Chianti. — 9 years ago
Had this over a year ago, still tasting great. Located in the heart of Chianti Classico in the valley which lies south of the town of Panzano, called the "Conca d’Oro" (the golden shell) because of its amphitheatre shape. Aged for 12 months in oak, big ripe berry aromas & spicy notes. On the palate dark berry flavors, some sweet currants, cacao and oak. Well balanced with soft smooth tannins, lingering ending with smoky tones. Nice! Grab a bottle if you find one! — 7 years ago
CVed 1/26/18. First of three. Nose of red fruits and earth. Palate that's acidic yet silky, good texture and lively. Medium finish. Gordon's $18 good value. Opened 1/12/24! Found in stash, tasting very nicely six years after poke, a record! — 8 years ago
With some homemade sauce- a knockout! — 8 years ago
Nice Toscana IGT, sangiovese & cab blend. We had this first time in a dinner on our honeymoon in Panzano, Tuscany. Bouguet has lovely earthy tones that takes us back to one dinner on september evening year ago. — 9 years ago
Excelent Grand Selezione from Panzano. Biodynamic. First tasted in Panzano last fall and again now. 2009 is ready to drink. Full body, dusty tannins and medium+ acidity. Cherry, plum and liquorice with integrated oak. Everything one can hope for earthy 100% sangiovese. Delicious! — 9 years ago
