I was very lucky to have one of my oldest friends in the world come visit me from DC this weekend (I love you, Kelli!). True friendship is the best and to me means you always feel understood... no judgement....yes even when it comes to dancing! In our case it also meant constant cutting up and a lot of really good wine! I really enjoy this Andy Erickson juice. It was a nice convergence of fruit and smoke. Awesome as is, but could benefit from a couple hours in a decanter. A delicious blend of roughly 55% Cab Sauv blended with equal parts Merlot and Petite Verdot, and finished with Cab Franc - this wine was one of the first releases from Ovid and made by then winemaker Andy Erickson. Full bodied and rich - even after 11 years. Black fruits mingle with notes of cedar followed by a long and sweet finish. This was sadly the last of my three bottles. If you happen upon a bottle, let it settle thoroughly, unfiltered and extracted, but once "clean" it is gorgeous. — 10 years ago
