7-8 months on the skins in amphora. Signed by Guisto Occhipinti. #italy #italia #skinferment — 11 years ago
'10. Maldafrica was inspired by an early '80s visit by COS cofounder to Haut-Brion. A truly different 50-50 Cab-Merlot with the house style that crosses elegance with a good kind of rusticity. Giusto Occhipinti (above) was also a phenomenal host and the best kind of Bon Vivant. Seek him out, as the COS story is as inspirational as this very, very yummy and distinctive wine. Like Gulfi, making Sicily among the hotbeds of cool new wines in Europe. COS winemaker's tasting @noragrey. Kudos to Theo and Oenopole! — 11 years ago

Poppy strawberries with herbal notes of rosemary. Juicy with well integrated tannins. — 9 years ago
Nice. I haven't had much history in Sicily...other than Occhipinti and watching The Godfather. Oddly enough, this bottle combined both. Delicious and dangerous. — 11 years ago

Nero d'Avola and Frappato in roughly equal measure aged in clay amphora. Cherry as the name indicates indeed, as well as strawberry immediately and currants with 2 or so hours of air. A lot of floral notes up front reminded me of Barolo, especially with the mineral notes and the silky, but firm tannins. This is the best wine in a while for me from Sicily not from Mt. Etna. I am looking forward to trying more from COS and Occhipinti who is the "O" in #COS. #sicily #frappato #cerasuolo #docg #amphora — 10 years ago
Occhipinti triumphs again with a way-better-than-it-should-be-at-this-price killer Nero d'avola. — 12 years ago

A little bigger and slightly smokies than an Occhipinti or Tami frappato, but still a beautifully restrained food wine. — 9 years ago
