Refreshing, light, and balanced. Perfect for this night's Asian dishes. Ends the night earlier than expected... — 9 years ago
This was a great wine. Long finish, starts with berries and ends with a bit of pepper and spice. Good deal at Trader Joes. — 10 years ago

Starts off fruity and light (surprising for an old vine Zin) and ends peppery and strong. A lot of aerating breathing room seems to balance those flavored really well. Makes a great with any spicy sriracha dishes! — 11 years ago

By a wide margin, the wine of the night was the opaque purple '08 Herman Story Syrah 'Nuts & Bolts'. Exuding blackberry, graphite, tar and licorice aromas, and then filling the mouth with bold layers of spice, pepper and plum flavors. This astonishing rich effort ends with sweet and polished tannins. Simply WOW! — 13 years ago
Deep red, burgundy color. Smells of vanilla, honeydew, pineapple, freshly cut strawberries, and wet ash. Medium to heavy body and tannin structure, low acidity. Not too bold, the flavor is like black raspberry compote but not too sweet, moves to a lingering sour taste on the roof of the mouth and the back of the tongue. Ends with mild notes of black pepper.
Edit: Three weeks after the above tasting and immediately being re-corked and refrigerated I feel like it has hit a really nice level of aeration. I wish I knew how to translate that into decanting & rest time.
I also didn't mention previously there is a nice oak flavor which is a bit blunt when first opened and which develops into a nice still present but more subtle flavor and a stronger vanilla flavor. — 9 years ago
A 6 grape blend (76% Chardonnay) aged in 40% new French oak for 11 months. The grapes were sourced from several northern California regions including Napa Carneros and Sonoma Coast. Deep straw yellow with aromas of tropical fruits and sweet spice. The palate shows flavors of pineapple, melon, apple and hints of lemon rind with complex spice. The wine is well balanced with integrated oak, crisp, lively acidity and ends with a long finish. Very nice alternative to the 100% California Chardonnay! — 10 years ago
My love for Krug knows no bounds. Bready, yeasty notes jump out of the glass towards you but quickly soften into those of honey butter. Ginger and spice notes. Lees driven but well integrated with medium high acid. This champagne is so complex that it's almost impossible to truly detect where one note of flavor ends and the other begins. — 11 years ago
The dark ruby '12 Piedlong Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is the second vintage from a new cuvée by the producers of Vieux Télégraphe. Nice aromatic nose of briery dark berries, wet stones and loamy soil. The palate is full of licorice, dried herbs and black olive flavors. The silky long finish ends with a fine dry tannic pucker. — 11 years ago
A more restrained, denser mouton nose here, somewhat closed but there is a detectable, dense core of dark cherry, blackcurrant fruit but also a deep red currant coming through with scorched earth and burnt ends.
Palate is balanced with very approachable, lilting red berry fruit that still has some sweetness to it. Classy red fruited length. — 12 years ago
Sourced primarily from hillside terraces of Poetry and Twin Peaks Vineyards. Dark deep red with complex aromas of black fruit, earthy spice and sweet notes. Composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 3% Merlot, the palate shows fruit forward rich dark berry flavors with notes of licorice and cacao, approachable tannins, well balanced. Lingering finish ends with earthy tones. Can age well for another decade. — 10 years ago
A stunning Zinfandel blend of mixed oak. A very god selection for a Brazilian steak house where the meat never ends and the wine pairs with everything served. Big red. — 10 years ago

Dark chocolate aromas, deep, rich berry flavors. Smooth straight out of the bottle! Ends with a hint of sweet. Delicious!! — 11 years ago
Very full flavor, spicy but ends sweet — 12 years ago

Apple, racing minerality. Followed by peach and papaya notes. Ends with long meyer lemon finish. Bravo. — 9 years ago
