Toffee and maple aromas stand out in this Colheita. Flavours of biscuit and toasted pecan emerge thereafter. The finish is vaguely like vanilla. — 7 years ago

Douro Valley....I am coming for you on Friday. On day 2 this is the real deal. Day 1 was tight on the palate with good aromatics. On day 2 the palate was expansive and impeccably balanced. Blueberry, raspberry, spice and schiste minerality fan out at a good pace and ate persist through a long finish. 13.5 abv this retains excellent freshness and a mildly racy acidity. #niepoort #douro — 11 years ago

One of the great Douro wines, took over by Dirk Niepoort - resulting in an elegant and balanced wine, with nice concentration and character but also freshness, making this wine really friendly and a sure value to open with winelover friends - Morgadio da Calçada Reserva is a selection of the best grapes from Provezendearea, in order to produce a complex wine, maintaining the typical freshness and balance. This is the 4th edition of this wine with Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz being the main varieties. 😄👏

Pear and apple skin with a hint of green herbs. Juicy with a touch of viscosity to the pear and apple fruit. Subtle and cleansing minerality on the finish. — 8 years ago
Very good price-quality comparison. Deep color, rich ripe aromas of black berries, cherries, nuts, marmalade, licorice. Good acidity and tannins, which are silky and chewy. Longish aftertaste with dried berries — 8 years ago
Very nice everyday wine. A perfect house wine. — 10 years ago
Very shy and closed when I tasted it. Feel like I didn't get a proper feel for the wine. — 10 years ago

Non fortified Palomino from Jerez aged for 8 months in barrel under flor and bottled at 12% abv.
Clean, medium + intense aromas. Opens up with acetaldehyde, fermenting bread dough, and crushed almonds. The fruit entries with lemon juice and yellow fresh apples with a present chalky and sea shell, salty minerality. Fresh acidity, drying chalky texture, flavours of lemon juice, nuts, chalk and bread dough, linear mid palate and a good but not impresscive finish — 5 years ago
