Very good value wine from Handfords. — 6 years ago
Woahhh nelly! another smoking wine from one of my favorite producers. Fresh cracked Pepper, cherry, cocoa, a little smokiness on the nose. Medium body with notes of leather, tobacco, baking spices, wet earth, cherries, dark chocolate, Great acidity. Every sip the wine grew on me more and more. Can not wait to drink this out on the porch on a nice summer evening. Was going to give it around an 8.8 but @Jack Thompson brought up a great point as to why this bottle deserves around a 9... it’s only $23. Have not had many wines of this quality for around $20. Terrific QPR. The wine is a blend of 85% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% Grenache from the 7 vineyards they work with to produce their $40+ wines. All of the grapes grown sustainably and 90% of the grapes are organic. I have yet to have a Dirty and Rowdy wine that disappointed. Cheers! — 7 years ago
Whoa nelly. So glad to have found this in the back of the fridge. Oxidation folded in; an old cheese of a wine. And bright. Friend of Indian food! — 7 years ago
Always good to try some Austrian back to the roots wine. Would love to have more of this regularly! — 8 years ago
Whoa nelly. Like little electrical bursts shooting their way across your tongue. Super sour acidity, though not burning battery - supple and round enough to make sense. A little madness, some farts, all sorts of Pinot earth and fruit with zweigelt mouthfeel. Hard to forget, whether you dig it or not. — 9 years ago
Whoa, Nelly! Wild strawberries, blueberries, stewed cherries and red plum intermingled with black tea and a mesquite-smoked meaty flavor. This wine is all over the place in a good way. Somewhat cidery, somewhat vinous and reminiscent of a fizzy Poulsard (it's 100% Blauer Wildbacher). It's like Bugey-Cerdon goes to Steiermark but keeps things pretty dry. I've had this twice in the last two days, and the first time was noticeably more fizzy than the second. That being said, it was super-enjoyable on both occasions, regardless. — 9 years ago

I’m thinking about starting a Grateful Journal. I’ve heard that writing down things you’re thankful for 5-10 mins before sleep helps you actually get the most from your sleep and also helps you wake up more energized. Tonight, my journal will note how thankful I am for friends who share great wine. @Frank this young beauty is sultry. Like making love on a hot summer’s night with the windows open. Opens with a pleasant earthy musk, meaty and gamey notes, and some fresh herbs, garrigue. Luscious and thicky-thick on the palate (see: Nelly). The red and blue fruits sing in wonderful harmony with the earthy, unadulterated tension just below the surface. Spicy, mineral, savory, and clean fruit all at once. Many years ahead. Perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit! — 6 years ago
A little Corsican Nelly/Grenny at dusk. Cheers to #yvesleccia from the North Coast vines. — 9 years ago

Whoa Nelly this was good. It hit its stride in the third hour, at which time it showed it with rich dark fruit, charred toast, cola, silky tannin, and nice medium acid. Lots of life left in this vintage I’m sure, but splendid right now. — 3 years ago
