Douglas fir, fernet, wet moss, ferns, smoke, spice cake, dark cherry, wet rocks, violets. There's a masculine almost fleshy character with lots of soft and elegant feminine qualities simultaneously. Beautiful tannin structure. — 9 years ago
Nice cabernet, paired it with Rotini and tomato with basil sauce. Red fruits on the pallatte with medium tannins. — 10 years ago
A blend that has the strength of character of a single grape. Earthy, complex, wonderful — 11 years ago
Aperitivo perfecto. — 8 years ago
Full flavor. Not too jammy. — 9 years ago
Hugely aromatic. On the nose a lovely sweaty leather cowboy hat with tobacco smoke. On the palette wild mushrooms growing along wet stone gravel shaded path with green moss. Perfect color. Nice acidity balance. Medium body. Medium plus finish. Special. — 9 years ago
So young and probably a little closed because of it but this has everything you could ask for, fruit, structure, cascading flavours that change and evolve, balance and length. Give it at least 5 more years but it should be incredible. — 10 years ago
I love this wine so much. Damp earth, wet leaves, moss, ripe cherries, granite, cranberry, and juicy steak layers for days. — 10 years ago
Wow. Love. Made me imagine what moss smells like in a warm climate. — 11 years ago
Light to medium bodied but has intensity. 2.4 tonnes/Hectare - very low cropping and biodynamic and very Left Bank Bordeaux. Has the Margaret River Herbaceousness. Vanya Cullen prefers this style but I prefer the more masculine Cuvees made by Woodlands and Moss Wood. 87% Cabernet 11% Merlot 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. Still a classy drop. — 8 years ago
Dark and concentrated with plenty of earthy layers. Wound up and grippy but love the raw rusticity of it. Reminds me of young Cornas in that sense. Black fruits, moss, dust and clay, tar, mushrooms, meaty, and this crazy herbaceous character I can't pin down. Almost a tobacco/cedar note. — 9 years ago
Right out of the bottle faint post rain rock, moss, and leather first pour nose showing deep red front-mouth fruit with youthful tannins that will coax your tongue to the roof of your mouth and groovy acid slowing things down letting the moment linger, penetrate, and compliment the amazing meatballs served up by Ben Barker (of Magnolia Grill Durham) at his son's amazing new pizzeria, in Carrboro, NC (do not miss!!)
More on this wine soon, but @13% alcohol and low $s, it's good stuff for sure! — 10 years ago
Our Christmas dinner wine! Perfect with ham — 10 years ago
Peat moss, caramel, and smoke. I can't believe this is from Japan. Phenomenal 'pure malt whisky.' — 11 years ago
