This is the 2013 Ar.Pe.Pe Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva ‘Nuova Regina’. It’s 100% Chiavennasca and aged 39 months in cask.
It is PALE ruby in color with pronounced aromas and flavors of red and black cherry, bright raspberry, mulberry, pomegranate, purple fig, stewed strawberry rhubarb, rose, potpourri, black licorice, black tea, anise seed, fennel, tri-colored peppercorns, peat, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, forest floor, and mushroom.
On the palate, this wine is dry, w/ medium (+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol (13% ABV), & medium (+) tannins that are smooth and velveteen; it has a lingering finish.
It’s an outstanding wine, incredibly fresh now with runway to age & gain complexity in the bottle. — 10 months ago

Rutabaga and charcoal and hen of the woods and cherry garcia. Yeah there is a little VA but it’s not intrusive. Maybe more wild than some of their other stuff but still that mountain freshness — 5 years ago

I'm surprised by pro rating because I really enjoyed the wine after waiting it breathe. Great price too — 10 years ago
Nice tannins. Medium body. — a year ago
So delicious! Yes, high octane at 15% ABV. Yet this wine is balanced. It has a medium ruby hue with medium(+), concentrated notes of rose, both ripe and dried black cherries, red plum, purple fig, dried prune, raisin, red licorice, wet stones, clove, and sweet tobacco. Acidity is medium(+) and tannins are medium, ripe, and smooth. — 2 years ago

Fruitier than most dry Proseccos with hints of bergamot & other florals. — 7 years ago
Wonderful acidity, well balanced fruit, a firm finish. This is top shelf Barbera and a real delight. Bravo. — 9 years ago
Nebbiolo blended with Merlot. This 2009 is just starting to mature...pubescent wine? Very bright red fruits followed by something smoky and interesting Happy #valentines — 11 years ago
