Montepeloso

Gabbro Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

This is what every Cabernet Sauvignon should taste like. Despite being from Italy instead of California, this Cabernet has the richness of a Corison or other top Cabernet Sauvignon, but for less money. Deep intense stewed fruit to start with plum and blackberry, rich earthiness, chocolate and tobacco, then perfect tannins to finish. And aged just the right amount now to smooth out the tannins. Buy some if you can find it. At $67.50, this Cabernet Sauvignon was an extraordinary value. — 3 months ago

Spicy, mineral lazed and dense with roasted herbs and great dark fruit flavors. Very clever oak treatment too. Holds a structure for the long haul. A great Tuscan wine! — 7 years ago

Ardito Toscana Sangiovese Blend

This looks incredible. However, can’t help comparing it to my last 20 year+ IGT Tuscan Blend post: 2002 Montepeloso Eneo, which was out of this world amazing. Anyhow, this is probably, “every bit as good as Giorgio…” Cheers! — 10 months ago

Eneo Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2002

Cant begin to explain how incredibly good this is! As you can see the color is intact. The smell is evocative with rose petals, cigar box, leather, black currant. First taste after decanting, the wine shows some deep concentrated flavours of black berry, plum, and even some prune. Tannins are present but round and velvety. Alcohol is mid to low. The finish goes on for minutes. Very concentrated yet balanced with just enough acidity. Love it. Cheers. — 10 months ago
