Really strong Barolo from 2004. Nice red fruit on the nose and palate. Smooth but with a great acidity. Served with porterhouse, roasted mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. — 7 years ago
Monforte d'alba. Wow showing magically well. Bricked garnet, subtle nose, complex pallette--purple flowers, baking chocolate — 8 years ago
This wine is under-rated by my esteemed Delectablers — 9 years ago
Monforte d'Alba delivered well with this vintage. Still strong after 15 years. — 10 years ago
Cola, ferns, sweet pine wood rot, menthol and eucalyptus and a bit of the old farmyard. — 10 years ago
More modern style from familia anselma, but ages very well. Adasi is the oldest Monforte vines and Riserva is only made in best vintages. 1996 is easy to drink now. — 11 years ago
They call this Bussia soprana, when monforte and Bussia are combined to make this wine. — 11 years ago

(Tasted at "Del Posto", La Festa del Barolo Masterclass Tasting)
One of my personal Top5 WOTD was Chiara Boschis' 2013 Barolo. Blended with fruit from Barolo (Terlo & Liste), Monforte d'Alba (Mosconi & Ravera) and Serralunga d'Alba (Gabutti & Baudana). I find this Barolo amazing since 2010, when it was first blended, but carried on the name "Via Nuova" (which was earlier a synonym for the "Terlo" MGA, from which the Barolo was made before). In every of these vintage Chiara imho managed to made an ultra high quality wine with the nuances of the vintage and a use of barrique how I love it. So the 2013 comes across very beguiling with tons of dark red fruit, red flowers and plenty of tannins. Sexy & elegant (less than the "Cannubi" though) but still a brawny powerful with a wine with muscles. — 7 years ago
Amazing to drink now but still has plenty of life left. Traditional style from the Pajana cru in Monforte. Decanted for 1 hour. showing fresh and fragrant anise, tar, and dried flowers — 9 years ago
pretty label, prettier wine, super elegant for Monforte — 10 years ago
Ahhhhhh, this wine has all the floral, tar and depth of a well aged Barolo from Monforte D'Alba...15 years for the 99 vintage really works! 99 was a colder summer and has matured slowly with true complexity! — 11 years ago

Spicy notes on the nose. Round fruits reminiscent of Pinot noir. Tannins still a bit harsh but lots of structure to age — 6 years ago
Ripe red fruit, silky, great with food, cheese, or on its own. First tasted at trattoria della posta, monforte d'alba, Sep 2017. — 8 years ago
Need some good breathing before drinkable. Great bottle with our Italian meal! — 8 years ago
Intense ruby red coloured, fresh to the nose with mature fruits; prunes and blueberries, licorice and notes of aromatic herbs like eucalyptus. The evident tannin and harmony confirm the grand character that is undeniably the terroir of Monforte. — 9 years ago
More masculine style , modern , roses , strawberries , spicy . Very good — 10 years ago
#mauroveglio #barolo #castelletto 2005. Bold, pure, balanced, a joy to drink! #monforte vineyard; made in #lamorra — 10 years ago
2007 #Barolo Castelletto from Giovanni Manzone. Drinks beautiful now and it packs a seductive and yet powerful punch that will continue to improve in the years ahead.
